September 2, 201114 yr I think this is the right forum - not really a hardware issue per se, is it?? Has anyone got 5.1 sound in FS9 with Creative speakers? I have searched the forums for this and it looks as if 5.1 sound is possible (one or two people have said they have no problem, but others say it's only available in FSX!), but is it that with Creative speakers I will not manage it? I have tried adjusting settings in the Audigy Control Panel, but I only get sound from the two side speakers - nothing from the centre one or the two rear speakers. The subwoofer does work OK.. I am sure I got 5.1 sound in the UK - now I have moved to Bangkok (had the PC shipped here recently) I don't. Maybe that was with my old PC which ran FS9 on Windows XP 32-bit. The new PC runs Windows 7 64-bit. I did install 64-bit drivers for the sound card by the way. Thanks, Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
September 2, 201114 yr You can't get true 5.1 as FS9 wasn't created multi channel like that but you can get a virtual 5.1 recreation using Creative's EAX software settings... Make sure EAX is enabled and configured correctly and you have 5.1 speakers selected in control panel...-P Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
September 2, 201114 yr If you open EAX you will get a lot of crackling and distortion.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA

September 2, 201114 yr I meant within FX9. Normally I don't get any distortion, crackling etc. Only if a turn on EAX and listen to sound within the sim.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
September 2, 201114 yr I get good sound in FS9 using EAX and the 5.1 speaker setting using the default outputs.
September 4, 201114 yr Author Hi. Thanks for the replies. When I click (All Programs/Creative) on EAX settings, I get a message saying "The audio device supported by this application is not detected...". When I open the Audigy Control Panel I can activate EAX but I still only get sound from the two side speakers.. nothing form the others. "Make sure EAX is enabled and configured correctly" - what's to configure though? Could you perhaps explain a bit more? I just have the enable EAX option, a slider and various effects. Is there more to configure elsewhere? Many thanks,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
September 4, 201114 yr You need to uninstall and reinstall the software and drivers and then it will work. I needed to do this about a month ago.
