A couple monitor questions

Featured Replies

I have a couple of monitor questions. Firstly, on my 2500k system (see my sig) I am using a 6 year old LG Flatron 1400:1 DFC, which has a max resolution of 1680 x 1050. In order for textures to look smooth I have to turn up the AA to a really high setting, but this is very taxing on my system so I normally leave it low and just put up with the bad textures and shimmers. If I upgrade my monitor and ran everything at a higher resolution, would that be more work for my video card than it would to run a high level of AA? My second question is in regards to monitor refresh rate. I get huge stutters if I'm getting any fewer than 60 fps. I've been told its due to the fact that my monitor has a refresh rate of 60ghz. At 60 I'm completely smooth. Are there any monitors that help bypass this problem? What are you guys using? I know there are plenty of you out there that are running a smooth sim at half those frames. I know this isn't something that I should have to put up with. By the way, I have tried external limiters with only little difference.

Yeah, each time I've installed fsx I have followed that guide very closely. Its only smooth at 60. Not 40. Not 50. Not 58.

Unless you can find a high res monitor that supports 30-50Hz
