Rick, I have had the DLL in my fsx root folder for yonks, and never had a problem. Place and forget. And then go and make a cup of tea.

Hells bells, don't put it in the fsx root folder, unless you want Tea all over your desktop

I completely removed both UIAutomationCore.dll -s from System32 ans Syswow64 in win 7 64. No problems since. The guide to remove them is at http://virtualfsx.wordpress.com/2010/08/10/fsx-crashes-running-uiautomationcore-dll/ .No Vista dll in the FSX root either.

I don't know if completely removing it from your computer is a good idea as other applications may need it. Better off just dropping a compatible version in the same folder as fsx.exe
