Stand-alone simulador - problems involved...

Featured Replies

Some years ago, I read in this forum that making a "stand alone" filght sim would cost many thousands of dollars. The only stand alone and realistic simulator I know for a "transport aircraft" is the "Aerowinx 747" by Hardy Heinlin, which should be relaunched, we hope, in a few months... Just wondering whether PMDG wouldn't team up with other developers in order to make not only a precision aircraft, but a brand new simulator focused on precision. A simulator with a realistic ATC, brand new weather engine (with water data for weather radar), real winds and flght performance etc... So, just for curiosity, what are the problems involved on such a project? Teo Halfen

Lots of money for starters !!! So far the cheapest I have managed to build a fully funtioning 737 800 fixed base trainer is about 60,000 euros. And that's cutting it Very tight !!!! The only good software out there is Project Magenta.Any of the " others " are both a waste of time and money. Fred.

I don't think that was the question Fred. I think the OP wanted to know how much a dedicated eg. 737NG flightsim would cost rather than have a Microsoft game based simulator that everything ran on top of. Eg. DCS A10 is a dedicated Milsim unlike FSX products. As for Project Magenta...I think it is fair to say that Prosim737 is about to overtake PM as the hardware interface of choice. If you haven't checked it out recently it has come a long way in the last 12 months. PM is downright ugly and a pain to use these days. Andrew

Understood !! I have to strongly dissagree with you about PM though. It might look a bit ugly but it is still the best and nothing is about to overtake it. Prosim is a toy in comparison !!
