Weather engine and weather radar?
If Prepar3d won't ever have a realistic weather (i. e. simulate caracteristics of a cumulus nimbus, cumulus, cumulus congestus, stratus etc) it will never be a serious flight simulator, so let's wait for another developer.

Weather engine and weather radar?
A realistic weather engine would make a great difference from FSX and could make a heavy migration from FSX to Prepar3d, both from developers and users. But I don't know whether that's Prepar3d team wish.

Weather engine and weather radar?
Oh, if this is true, it will be very disapointing, because a realistic weather is essencial for a flight simulator, and a realistic weather radar is essencial for an airliner.

Weather engine and weather radar?
And what about Prepar3d team? Are they intending to develop a good weether engine for Prepar3d or at least make it easier for add on developers to make a real weather engine and weather radar? I'm not talking about the current weather engines for FSX, because they have FSX limitations.

Weather engine and weather radar?
I always use FSrealWX, it's a very nice and free software, thought limited by FSX capabilities.

Prepar3d developing a weather radar
In fact, the title of this topic is misleading, it should be a question, not an affirmation. Sorry...

Weather engine and weather radar?
Any news about a possible development of a good weather engine for Prepar3d? Things like hail and ice in some types of cloud, a weather radar detecting water drops and turbulence, thermals and turbulence inside cumulus and cumulus nimbus, slippery icy or wet runways etc...That would be a great and awaited improvement. Thanks

Prepar3d developing a weather radar
True, Prepar3d should program winds, thermals, hail inside cumulus and cumulus nimbus.... And a real weather radar has to distiguish between water drops and microscopic droplets.

Prepar3d developing a weather radar
You're right, It was made by Microsoft itself: http://msdn.microsof...y/cc526983.aspx I thought it was made by Prepar3d team... So, don't know what are their intentions about a real weather radar...

Prepar3d developing a weather radar
It seems Prepar3d is developing a weather radar: http://www.prepar3d.com/sdk/Core%20Utilities%20Kit/SimConnect%20SDK/SimConnect.htm Since a weather radar is a "no go" item, I think it shouldn't be underestimated. So, I don' knowt whether Prepar3d is being managed by a dedicated team and could become a future platform for PMDG... I wouldn't bother paying USS 200 for a realistic platform. What are your opinions? Thanks, Teo Halfen

Off-topic: how pilots communicate so quickly?
I'm listening to ATC control and it's amazing how quick they communicate with each other. Tower gives whole instructions and radio frequencies in very quick speech and pilots repeat very quickly and easily. How do they do it? Is there a technique to learn that? Teo Halfen

Rudder and nose gear steering
In the 737NG, is the rudder coupled with the nose gear steering? Thanks

Diversity on airlines take off proceedures
Do different airlines adopt different take off procedures? In PMDG's tutorial 1, Ryan instructed to turn on both vnav, rnav and one CMD prior to the take off roll. Is that the real procedure in all airlines, or some airlines use to turn the CMD on only at some high?

One of the best NG videos I've seen
Great. Also this one: landing at SDU (SBRJ - Santos Dumont - Rio de Janeiro)

which airplane would you want to see in fsx?
A nice old days 747-200.

Turn air conditioning off prior to engine star
Ok. When APU is on, if I turn both packs off, duct pressure goes down. So, I use to let the right pack on and the left pack off.
-
Turn air conditioning off prior to engine star
Whenever I fly in a 737, I observe the air conditioning is turned off prior to engine start. I imagine this has to do with the pneumatic/duct air pressure to have enough power for the engine start. But what is the real procedure in the overhead panel? What switches these pilots turn on or turn off? Thanks

FSX looses frames after a short time
maybe CPU and other components heating?

Aircraft sweeping from left to right, right to left on route
I've just changed the flight controls effectiveness in aircraft.cfg to a lower number, for exemple 0,4. It seems to have worked until now.I also changed the stability parameters in the aircraft.cfg to make hand flying more challenging.elevator_effectiveness = 0.4aileron_effectiveness = 0.4rudder_effectiveness = 0.4pitch_stability = 0.5roll_stability = 0.5yaw_stability = 0.5This is not indicated by PMDG, so save the original aircraft.cfg

nav display wind
I think it's by the tower control.

New Flight Sim in sight - Aerofly FS
I'm downloading a demo. Let's see.By the way, we are seeing the birth of many new sims, what is very positive in my opinion.

In Response to Microsoft Bashing!
MS has may respect as a software company, but its simulators are not the ideal platform for complex softwares like PMDG. You see: 20 years of MS flight sims and we still have no decent weather modeling, no weather radar (that a "no go" equipment), no serious ATC, poor fps etc...
-
Some thoughts on Flight...
MS interest is not realism or precision, but income. So I'm quite glad that PMDG is quitting with MS future products. Lets get more serious.Teo Halfen
