September 24, 201114 yr I have 2 questions about starting engines:1. Is is avisible to start both engines at the same time? Or should I do one at a time? I've been doing both at the same time.2. (a,b,c)On a cold dark start up, when I start the APU nothing happens until I pull the toggle APU gen toggle switch down. Is that normal? Why are there 2 APU gen toggle buttons? and do I need to pull both down? What is the purpose of the APU gen toggle anyway? Paul Gugliotta
September 24, 201114 yr Normal procedure is to start #2 then #1. I've been told that the NG's APU was originally designed with enough power to do both starts at once, but it was not adopted for whatever reason. On the 737, Boeing makes you connect each GEN manually (with a very small exception). Matt Cee
September 25, 201114 yr Hello I'm trying everything but can't get the engines started.I hear them spool up and i see the figures of EGT going to 64 but nothing happens.Anyone a clue Frans(EHBK)
September 25, 201114 yr Have you tried to follow the tutorial? If everything else is set up correctly it should be like this: APU - running (on)Packs - offAPU Bleed - onStart switch - GNDWhen N2 reaches 20 you open the fuel cut-off switch RegardsJohnny Holmgren Johnny Holmgren
September 25, 201114 yr Author One thing that was tripping me up was that you can't start the engines in the 2D panel. You need the 3D so you can flip on the fuel switches below the throttle. Make sure you go in the 3D panel and turn on the fuel switches - I believe you first turn the engine start knob than wait until N1 gets to 20% then turnon the fuel switch - but I just open up both fuel switches then start each engine. I think it's supposed to be: Pull pin, throw grenade, grenade explodes. But, that's probably not important. ;) Matt Cee
