September 25, 201114 yr This post has been prompted by France VFR's current online sales drive for new their new Pays de Loire and Rhone-Alps sceneries. I have bought several bundles from this company over the years. Their scenery is excellent. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks. Amongst these is the near total absence of online support in English. Incompatibility with Ultimate Terrain Europe (FS2004 version) is a problem which is particularly noticeable in the coastlines. UTE uses the correct geographical locations but VFR France seems to use MS topography. There do not appear to be any patches from either company. There are many other countries in Europe apart from France, which is why I use UT Europe. So I need advice on how to integrate VFR France with this program. I have tried giving the various VFR France sceneries different priorities in the FS2004 Scenery Library but it is not possible to get any advice in English about this from France VFR. To intending non-French speaking buyers, I would say this: this company sells in both French and English but only provides online support in French. John John
September 25, 201114 yr Hi John, Of course your comment s are ideally best directed to the supplier. However having had an France VFR product I understand your position. In my case I did manage to sort the problem. France VFR as you correctly say, does not take into account UT Europe coastlines for some reason. Therefore you may experience double coastlines where the France VFR package imposes default coastlines outside the photo scenery area. - on your UT Europe ones. If you feel up to it, go into the scenery file folder of your France VFR scenery and identify the bgls that are causing the problem. Usually you are looking for FL***[something].bgl. There will already be an equivalent that replaced the default in UT Europe anyway. You don't need it: just xxxx out the argument bit (ie rename the .bgl part of the file name to .xxx) and that will probably sort it - well it did for me. As for navaids, not much you can do about them, I don't think. Hope this helps. Ray
September 25, 201114 yr Author Thanks, Ray. It's reassuring to hear I'm not the only one who's had the problem. I have informed the company, BTW. The difficulty is that I would have to replace all the FL**** files from Monaco to Perpignan to solve the problem and as you say, the navaid errors would remain even if I did this. I posted to let folks know that France VFR products are not fully compatible with UT Europe. And, also to say that, as far as I can see, there is very little online advice available from France VFR in English. Lots in French! Kind regards John
September 25, 201114 yr This post has been prompted by France VFR's current online sales drive for new their new Pays de Loire and Rhone-Alps sceneries. JohnThese two products are not available for FS9, only FSX. Their forum does have an English support forum, so I am not sure why you think they are not being supportive to non-French speakers? September 26, 201114 yr Author graemb, I bought FS2004 France VFR sceneries long before FSX was ever heard of. I have the FS2004 DVD sitting in front of me! UT Europe is still available for FS2004. I am running it now having un-installed the FVFR sceneries. There is an English support forum but you need to speak French in order to sign up for it! As I said, I was in contact with France VFR and Alain Nicco has confirmed to me that FVFR and UTE for FS2004 are not fully compatible. I do not know if this also applies to FSX but I suspect it does. As I said in my first post, FVFR uses MS topography whereas UTE uses real world topography. As we know these are often different. Hence the problem. John
