2D panel - 4:3

Featured Replies

PMDG has always pushed the limits of Technology to give the best possible experience to their customers. Just like FS Dreamteam will no longer be making scenery for FS9 anymore, PMDG is moving away from 2d-panels to virtual cockpits. Widescreens have been out for quite some time now and prices are very reasonable. People just have to accept that upgrading hardware to keep up with new technology is part of this hobby or you get left behind. The Future is Widescreen and that is what the majority of people use today.
exactly!
Well, no. Not exactly. I really don't wanna get into this again, but just thinking of "hardware upgrades" - if people really upgrade their hardware, get multiple monitors, get a home cockpit, the 2D is exactly what they are looking for. You can't just say 3D is "new tech" and 2D is obsolete, just cause it was there earlier. They just have different uses. sig.gif

The point here was the 4:3 aspect and it just does not make sense to make square 2d panels anymore. It will squish the NGX and make it look ugly. Quote from RSR
I saw a few folks questioning whether we will be adding more 2D panels: No, we will not. As previously discussed, PMDG is moving away from 2D panels. On future products we will provide 2D functionality designed specifically to support home cockpit builders, but we will not be including full cockpit panel functionality as this consumes a significant amount of resources that can be better used for increased functionality and performance.

Actually there is nothing to get into. The quote above seems pretty plain to me and it is not like they are giving you a choice in the matter anyway. If the future products don't meet your criteria or expectations the only option you have is to not buy it. Pretty simple.

I know it's up to them. I myself am a mixed user BTW. And after all it's not that option that makes me consider a future purchase or not, there are certainly more important items. wink.pngsig.gif
