Why did my BIOS settings reset?

Featured Replies

I have the following:I7-930 @ 2.8 and I o/c to 4.1 (x21) but the odd thing I just noticed today was that my BIOS settings went back to like all auto. So I changed everything over again.. why would this do this? I installed a wireless keyboard and mouse.. would this have anything to do with it? I have never done a restore.. so.. any ideas? thanks

IIRC, depending on your mobo and settings within the bios, some reset to stock settings when an overclock is unstable.

ahhhhh.. ok I do remember a while back when I booted up it said something about one of my fans not running up to full speed or something to that effect and then it went on to say something about my overclocking not working or not wanting to o/c --- I betcha that was when it happened... good to know for sure.oops, I also changed my cpu voltage to auto and seems to have made things lots more stable.. gotta baby it, I do.

Some months ago I had the same thing happen, or at least partially happen. Some settings went back to default and some did not. Sure fouled up the OC. Reset everything back where it should be and have not seen any sign of trouble since. No idea what caused it although several possibilities were speculated upon. I7975 OC'ed to 4.0. Good luck:RTH
