October 4, 201114 yr Author climb thrust = reduction thrust right ? /Michael Are you thinking of 'cutback' thrust? Climb thrust is the normal climb thrust for normal operations (although this can be reduced to CLB-1 or CLB-2). Cutback thrust is a lower thrust setting used for noise abatement or 'quiet climb' procedures. The flight crew can specify the thrust reduction and restore altitudes but the FMC calculates and commands a cutback thrust rating based on data provided through the model/engine database.
