September 30, 201114 yr After takeoff, after reaching acceleration altitude, I should be able to manually select 'N1' on the MCP to set climb power but when I try to do this nothing happens. It seems that climb power can only be set by the autothrust according to the height set in the setup options. Is anyone able to manually select 'N1' on the MCP? How are you getting this to work? September 30, 201114 yr I've seen the same before installing hotfix 4. I've only tried it once after HF4, and that time it did work, so you may want to install it if you haven't already. September 30, 201114 yr Yep, that's the one. If you already have it then I don't know. You did have autothrottle "ARM" annunciated on the PFD? September 30, 201114 yr Author Yep, that's the one. If you already have it then I don't know. You did have autothrottle "ARM" annunciated on the PFD? The hotfix I have is annotated '2987'. Yes, the autothrottle status is showing "ARM" on the PFD. Doug Boynton
September 30, 201114 yr This was covered in a tread last week/weekend I think. There is a simple explanation for it !! Frederic Steiner.

September 30, 201114 yr This might help a bit ! http://forum.avsim.net/topic/349131-n1-mcp-button/ Fred. Frederic Steiner.
September 30, 201114 yr Author This might help a bit ! http://forum.avsim.n...-n1-mcp-button/ Fred. Thanks Fred. Tried this but it doesn't work for me. It is also technically incorrect as far as the real aircraft is concerned but that is not to say that it is incorrect for this product. Cheers, Doug Doug Boynton
October 2, 201114 yr Hi From what I read in the FCOM, and if I understand it right there are two versions of the FMC10.7 and earlier and 10.8 The FMC simulated after the HF4 is the 10.8 oneAccording to the FCOM aircraft equipped with that version the preferred method for takeoff is to arm VNAVon the ground and let VNAV fly the takeoff profile, according to the speeds and accel height programmed in the FMC.If you don,t want VNAV the other option under 10.8 is to use LEVEL CHANGE at accel altitude dial the bug up speedand accelerate, this is what is simulated in NGX Aircraft with 10.7 version and earlier there you could push N1 at thrust reduction height and at accel altitude dial thebug up speed retract flaps and accelerate, this to my understanding is not simulated , not at least in the simulatedaircraft I fly Please If anyone can confirm the above RegardsPanos
October 2, 201114 yr FMC 10.8 has always been the one simulated in the NGX since first release version. And even with the latest version you should still be able to do things the way they are done with earlier versions if you choose to do so. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
October 2, 201114 yr Works for me. Set your speed on the MCP and then hit N1 after your at Flaps 1. Paul Deemer
October 2, 201114 yr Maybe i am stupid but mine shows in green on the PFD N1 TO/GA on takeoff roll so why is it you have to manually hit the N1? Sorry if is a stupid Q /Michael Michael Moe
October 3, 201114 yr Author You never need to manually press N1.It changes to climb thrust automatically at 1500 ft in the NGX.This number can be changed if you like.Boeing test pilots use 1000 ft. Using N1 to change to climb thrust was the old way of doing it. I can assure you that manually selecting 'N1' is still used today according to company SOPs & circumstances. Cheers, Doug Doug Boynton
October 3, 201114 yr Author I agree but very rarely !! You very rarely agree? (And stop calling me 'Shirley') Doug Doug Boynton
