No effects light through HGS?

Featured Replies

Do anyone else have this problem, that all the effect lights in the scenery (obsticle lights etc.) dissapear in the the center part of the HGS?

Daniel Groth

Not confirmed, but it might very well be possible, as the HUGS geometry even interacts with the NGX itself. Think of the EFIS panel readings that disappear (will be fixed), the landing light color interference, the windshield wiper issues. sig.gif

the landing light color interference
Which is normal, as the HGS glass has a pinky shine on it.

Yeah I don't remember what the exact issue was, but the wiper thingy was definately one. It would get lit up by the landing light or something. Other than that BTW, I think the landing lights produce some quite strong color bleeding on my runways. Actually too strong for me, don't know what to do about it. Not only bleeding, it looks also oversaturated, if you will. sig.gif

Thats good news. The HGS stuff doesn't bother me anymore. They really stood out when the NGX first came out, but I just sort of got used to it. Put it this way, I rather have those little oddities and have the HGS and its great functionality, than not have it at all. But if PMDG can find a way to make it pefect, I won't complain :)

I experienced this strange hue through the HUD last night. It appears that they are trying to simulate that pinkinsh hue in a real HUD. My problem is similar to, Badderjet's...when I put the HUD back up, there is a bleed-over of green and pink hue that remains over saturated on the RW. The taxi light cleared it a litle bit..but it was still present.

Yeah, I don't know how they do the landing lights, maybe there's a possibility to use different blending modes within FSX. It's obviously not *only* lighting up the ground. Don't get me wrong, it's a thousand times better than the default, because the default would really just turn up brightness, but instead of actually *increasing* contrast, which is what you would see IRL, it in fact made everything appear grayish-white, at least completely washed out so you could barely see anything anymore. Just seeing those oversaturated colors, plus some noticable artefacts, or blending, however you want to call it. If that could be reduced, it'd probably be close to perfect. sig.gif

Not much we can do about this - it's a hack of the way the sim works to even do what we're doing with the HGS in the first place.
