  1. And based upon which facts do you make this assumption? Windows 8.1 (I am NOT saying Windows 8.0) Is an OS with no more bugs than Windows 7 does, and in fact is faster than W7.. The fact that you tag W8(.1) as a "miserable failure" proves that you haven't even used it before, and also proves you take anything on the internet as truth. In that case, you shouldn't post such comments when you don't know anything about it. I have to be completely honest with you, the Modern UI is not so easy to adapt to, but the only thing that has changed with Modern UI is the start menu, which IMO, has improved A LOT above Win7 start menu. Much more customizable, much easier to search stuff.
  2. I am using Windows 8.1 Pro with my FSX installation, and it is working wonderful! The only add-on that doesn't work is the Level-D 767, but that's because it was designed for XP, not the newer OS. I find performance better when compared to the same in Windows 7, I get about 5 to 10 fps more because 8 is more optimized.
  3. Hi Paul! I'll strike you again then! I am currently 18 (19 this Friday) And part of the VATSIM network. Aviation is my passion, everytime I am out I will look to the sky one way or another. As I said, I'm part of VATSIM-UK (I live in Belgium myself) and I know LOADS of young people aged all the way from 15 up to 30, and ofcourse much, much older! How absurd it may sound, but this network gave me some real friends. I live in BE, but I have friends in London, Manchester, Newcastle, USA, France, the Netherlands, etc., not many people can say such things! IMO, FSX, and aviation in total, brings people with the same passion together, and this is what makes this hobby totally worth it. You start to respect other people, for example just by reading they are cancer-free for 3 years. (By the way, congrats! Enjoy your life, you will know yourself it's going to be way too short!) Anyway, I'll stop now. Goodnight!
  4. It already exists on the old 747, so why not on the v2...
  5. Privatair sadly stopped this service in October or November, too bad really...
  6. Well, I think it's cut in pieces in order to get the HD textures, I'm nto sure, but I think it does.
  7. Ryan, can you please explain that a bit more? When I had it on to test it, I found out that all my textures look extremely stretched when they get close the the edge of my 24" LED. And I kinda hate that...
  8. Ouch, didn't know that, and they did it twice pretty much, on Vista...
  9. Haha, you mean one of MS's big blunders? I know of atleast another one! :(
  10. And to be honest, high end PC's these days are relatively cheap IMO, I payed €1200 for a 2500k, P8P67 LE REV3, 8GB Corsair 1600Mhz DDR3, GB GTX560 256bit 1GB DDR5, Corsair H80 cooler and a Corsair case, not bad huh?
  11. And to that, I agree :( just edit 1 small thing in the EFI or whatever it's called with ASUS, and you got it clocked...
  12. I agree to that, don't get me wrong, an overclocked i5 to 4.8 is awesome, as I have one at this speed myself running only at 38 degrees with FSX, but it's not a must, that is what I was pointing out.
  13. Why for **** sake do you NEED to OC? You don't NEED to OC at all, I actually found out that FSX ran perfect on an unclocked 2500k 8GB RAM and GTX560, I did overclock as I wanted some extre breathing room on the fps, but running it at stock speed gives a nice 20 fps already.
  14. Indeed, from scratch! You see him taking his PPL exam with Jetairfly. Also, it is worth to be noted that his landing back in Brussels was THAT soft, the 737 didn't even know that it was landing to deplaoy the speedbrake.IMO, Tom did an extremely well job flying that thing for the first time, after starting from scratch only 1 month before the actual, attempt, I admire him for that!EDIT: And also, this jet he flew was actually brand new from the Boeing factory! No revenue flights done with that one at all at the time of recording (looking at the weather, that was in early summer)
  15. If you don't really need a Laptop I also suggest to get a PC. PC's with this kind of equipment are huge for a reason, this is for the airflow that keeps stuff cool. In a laptop you don't got this room for ventilation, so running FSX on it (FSX will STILL run that new-gen SandyBridge CPU to the max) will make it extremely hot, (apparantly this emoticon appears with 8 0 ) 8 0°C on a laptop isn't a one off!
  16. Now, a Convair 880-990, THAT would be cool!
  17. Hi there, I'm just telling you (not critisizing orsomething) but as far as Ryanair goes, don't but your hopes on it. Ryanair doesn't allow any VA's to be made about them, and if there is, they will demand you to shut down. I know of one VA at least who has had that.Kind regards
  18. I know what situation you are in! I turned 18 in December, and before that everythign was hard to buy as well, although I do have a complete new PC of €1200 since September, and AS2012 since last week :PAnd now off to bed, almost 1 o'clock here, good night!
  19. http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/Download from here, no need to have registered version, but hey, it's always recommended and Pete fixed g3d.dll errors for laods of people and he put blood sweat and tears (well, perhaps not, but still :() into fixing this, so actually buying it would support Pete with that other bit of money!
  20. Get latest FSUIPC and your g3d.dll CTD's vanish like snow for the sun ;)
  21. I am just makinga point, there might be other possibilities with the RNAV, as it also doesn't require a somewhat expensive ILS system on smaller airports where there's quite some traffic (good example is Saint Maarten). On places like this, they don't feel the need for ILS because there's barely bad weather, but when there is low visibillity, then can utilise the RNAV as it's much safer then a VORDME approach.
  22. Why not? If you are in places where an ILS is unusable due to high mountains (the ILS would hit the mountain after a few miles for example, so becoming unusable) then RNAV will be able to give you a 3 degree glidepath all the way untill final even in the turn onto short final, so I fail to see where it can't replace the ILS in certain circumstances?
  23. Hi Damian, for example whenever I have a RW METAR of visibility 200 metres, it often gives an interpolation of more than 3km, which in my opinion makes it useless, this is not rendereing the real world weather, is it?
  24. Hi all,In my ASE, usually my METARs are changed by ASE with the RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATION, and it sucks as I get very different weather then the real one (frustrating on VATSIM)Is there any way to shut it off?Kind regards
