I don't get it... (2600k)

Alright folks I've been a member for about one year now but have never actually posted anything so here goes my first post. So i recently purchased a new computer which has the great i7 2600k thinking it will blow my mind off compared to my old Q9550.But I have some performance issues at the moment, for example running FSX all settings set to ultra high with bojote's tweak and some addons like REX, Airbus X, Aerosoft Arlanda and some trafficI don't get near the performance I hear from all the SB users, I get an average of 23 fps, dropping to 17-19 if the weather is bad. I have my 2600k clocked at 4.3ghz and most people say they run FSX with mega airports, REX, pmdg MD11 and traffic at constant 60 fps... My question is what am I doing wrong here? Specs: 2600k @ 4.3ghzgtx 560asus p8p67 procorsair vengeance 8gb 1600mhzantec h2o 620 EDIT: I've installed both sp1 and sp2

Kind regards,

Stefan Matic.

They probably run at 60FPS because their slider's are set more to the left and I highly doubt they are using HD textures that are provided with REX nor are they set for 4096x4096 textures either within the UI My settings are set more to the high side and my frames are set to 30FPS and I still dip into the teens at some of the larger airports like KSEA and KJFK but the video quality is almost always smooth.

You have no idea what a relief it is to hear that :) Thanks. I should perhaps lower my settings a bit and install the non HD textures from REX and then see how it performs.

With one of those top systems, I can warmly recommend you to experiment. I can in no way run 60fps with what you mention above. Rather something like 30 or below. Quite frustrating at times, but lower some settings, experiment what brings the best boost in given situations and then go from there. My tips:Water Low 2.x4096 clouds -> 1024LOD distance no higher than 6.5 if changed manuallyYou can set 4096 in fsx.cfg, due to external NGX textures being HQ, that doesn't impact as much. But 4096 do.

I will try try that, thanks for the tip.

Agreed, who the heck is running 60fps with payware addons? My frames dip to about 15 when running Orbx KSEA with the NGX, of course I run very dense autogen and weather hehe. I normally run 30 fps locked outside of orbx and achieve that. Flying into payware airports like FT or FSDT and NGX my frames are around 24-26.
