It's not just the CPU that dictate performance, but also your other components like Motherboard, memory, GPU. Desktops usually have better performing components then Notebooks. Also with a 3GB video card you will most likely not be able to run FSX at all, at least with any kind of detail. Remember FSX is a 32bit Application which limits it's Virtual Address Space to 4GB. Your 3GB Video memory must fit in that space, which will leave only 1GB for FSX itself. You're much better off with a card with 1GB or less for FSX. This is one case where having the best, may actually hurt you more. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
October 4, 201114 yr In Feb. this year I bought a Dell XPS 15. I opted for the Core 17-2820 ( a great processor and worth the extra $$) which runs up to 3.40 GHz with Turbo Boost. My card is a Nvidia GeForce GT540M and 6GB of RAM. This system set me back about $1600. I have this connected to a large screen TV with HDMI and a high resolution. Like many, I was a little hesitant going from a desktop to a notebook, but I needed the portability. However, I have been very pleased with the performance and I'm getting decent frame rates with no blur even at large airports with normal air traffic settings.
