October 10, 201114 yr New user and have a issue. I tried the DWC option and found the weather did not match the metar in FSX at the destination airport or enroute. (CYYC - CYVR). Runways were also unpredictable. So I switched to standard mode and while I like the weather depicted, and the runways being more predictable, the constant updating and stutters is a show stopper. Even with auto updates set at 30 minutes, it seemed every 10 minutes it was updating. Is this normal? Also in standard mode I got the old style low level haze layer which looked like soup against the mountains. If FSX is using the weather ASE is downloading, why is the ATIS so way off? I did search the forums and it looks like I'm not the only one with this issue. I would love to get DWC working with destination matching actual METAR and FSX/ATIS. Any advice? Only thing else I'm using to affect it is FSUIPC and have all settings per recommendations posted within this forum with FSX, ASE, and FSUIPC. Thanks. Richard Hardman
October 11, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi Richard, I can't duplicate any such behavior, so I'd need specifics to look into this, including the METAR you are noticing a discrepancy with. It's possible your options are causing unexpected results, or there are other factors at play. So you use any VATSIM/IVAO add-ons? If so, have you disabled the weather features from them? Any other weather-addons, all disabled? Pertaining to haze layer, do you have this disabled in options? Note that Vis graduation and smoothing is only operable when DWC mode is chosen. The preferred way for us to troubleshoot this would be for you to provide your logs from a "problematic session" and forward to our helpdesk (www.hifitechinc.com support button) so we can take a look at all this information and figure out what is happening. October 11, 201114 yr Author Damian, No add-ons. Both Fog layer genration and Disable haze layer is checked. I did download the 649 build and I'll check to see if the DWC option works any better since the distance between stations in are further apart then the US. Richard Hardman
October 12, 201114 yr Author Downloaded Build 650 and ran a check. I reverted back to DWC for the graduation effect which fixed the fog issue. Here is what I found using CYVR-CYXS for a quick weather snapshot. ATIS/Flightwatch enabled. ASE Brief CYVR 120431Z 18112KT 10SM -RA BKN063 OVC085 12/07 A2983CYXS 120400Z 35003KT 9SM FEW096 05/04 A2962 FSX ATISCYVR 120433Z 16709KT 14SM -SHRA BKN063 12/07 A2988 (as reported by FSX ATIS)CYXS 120400Z 33103KT 9SM FEW096 05/04 A2962 (Used ASE's ATIS/Flightwatch on 122.02 since FSX has no ATIS at this location) FSX MAPCYVR 32202KT 20SM SCT 06/05 A2962CYXS 32002KT 20SM SCT 06/05 A2962 WEATHER SITECYVR 120400Z 17012KT 12SM -SHRA BKN063 OVC091 12/10 A2992 RMK SC6AC2 SLP133CYXS 120400Z 35003KT 9SM FEW096 05/04 A2961 RMK SLP052 Whats is interesting is the destination CYXS is spot on with the origin CYVR very close but not exact. CYVR is a major airport so I would expect many updates within an hour hence the slight difference(?). I was quite surprised how accurate this was overall. One thing I must ask, where does the weather info on the FSX MAP come from for Destination and Origin? My original issue may have been some bad combinations of options (or a little ignorance) but it also seems the recent updates seemed to smooth things out too. Richard Hardman
October 12, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi Richard, What do you mean by FSX Map... the Weather options dialog in FSX? If so, Station based weather (and thus any stations shown) will not be accurate in DWC mode. What will be accurate is the global (change weather everywhere) settings.
