October 13, 201114 yr Hi In win7 64 do you need to remove one driver in order to install a new driver (more recent version) or can you install over the old one? Can I install the drive with the CPU overclocked or do I need to get back to the original configuration for this instalation and after that I can run the overclocking settings again? harpsi
October 14, 201114 yr Generally you can install new drivers over old drivers. I do it all the time. In the case of Nvidia GPU drivers you should always use the clean install option in the Nvidia driver interface when you install new drivers. To be on the safe side when you install new drivers you should do so with no overclock and after they have been installed you can put your overclock settings back in. With the above said I usually only put my system to default clock settings when updating firmware and BIOS. If I am just installing GPU drivers, Intel RST drivers, audio drivers and stuff like that I usually do it while my system is overclocked. The bottom line is if you make any changes to system hardware/software/drivers while you system is overclocked you do so at your own risk.
