NGX & REX Weather?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,I'm just wondering if anyone else has been having issues with the NGX and the REX Weather Engine. I've noticed especially in cloudy/windy situations that the NGX falls into stutters. Also, sometimes the A/T will begin to overcompensate and accelerates the plane way past where the bug setting is. I'm running FSX on a 2008 Macboook Pro with Bootcamp. 2.4 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo. I haven't had this issue with other aircraft but was curious to see if others have experienced it.Thanks!

Hi,by stutters do you mean FPS or behaving abnormally? All my PMDG planes have trouble in really windy REX weather, I think its something coded in the planes (someone correct me if im wrong). If its FPS wise, then I have no idea. The overcorrection for wind would explain the A/T shooting past settings.

If the stutters are followed shortly thereafter by the speed changes then it's the weather updating. You can try increasing the interval. That won't stop it, but it'll make it happen less often. As for the overspeeding, that's probably due to sudden wind change caused by the weather update. You'd basically be going from a strong tailwind component to a strong headwind in an unrealistically short period of time. The only fixes I'm aware of are 1) use static weather that downloads once only, or 2) use the wind smoothing feature in the paid version of fsuipc. There are many users who use REX for textures only & disable the weather engine, opting for either native FSX weather updates or ASE.
