constant overspeed in turbulence

Featured Replies

I am aware of the pmdg problems with ase and turbulence and when I land I will try some editing. But for some reason the autothrottle is not controllling speed in chop. I am perpetually overspeeding in cruise. The airspeed and groundspeed and rapidly many times per second fluctuating by 5-10 knots. The speed is constantly faster than my mach .795 speed bug. Is this also a turbulence related problem? I found some good configs changes for turbulence settings for this aircraft but is there the end all good one out there someone is hiding? I have to wait till I land to deal with this but it is driving me nuts. I checked disable turb effects in fsx but the aircraft still experiences turbulence.

Ok this totallly sucks. On approach my airspeed was doing a slam bam rapid 50 knot rythmatic bump up and down instantaneously in about a 1 second rythum. I do not know how else to describe it. When I did desconnect the ap and at it took about a minute and then it went away both times but it was almost like the turbulence was being caused by it, dont ask me, probably a coincidence. Now for the really bad part. Upon landing with autobrakes at 2 and upon releasing the switch the airplane kept braking. Then I was stuck on the runway with the brakes on even though the autobrake was off. This was not the parking brake. When I engauged the parking brake for the hell of it, and then disengauged it the brakes disengauged. But then I had no brakes! I had to taxi in with reverse thrust and slew. Terrible end to my 2nd flight with this plane. This is the best of the payware planes I have owned but if this keeps happening it is just unflyable. I do not think this was brake overheating or pilot error hear but please tell me if it is. I have several hundred hours in 737's virtually like the ifly but I realize this one is a little more accurately modeled. I'd hate to have to worry about that again. I am really hoping for some advise and support on this one here.

You have a real weather issue I'm pretty sure. The wind keep changing directions.I've had that issue many times, and it applies to all aircraft, not just the NGX.As far as the auto brakes, I use the manual brakes to turn those off. It takes abouta 2 second tap of the brakes, and the auto brakes will disconnect. You can see aslight pulse so to speak when they unhook.I've never had a brake issue with the NGX. I've never had auto brake problems,or have lost manual braking.. Ever. I guess I'm lucky.. :/BTW, if I have weather that is giving me overspeed problems, I treat it asturbulence, and slow down a bit. That way if the wind direction jumps, I'llbe a bit less likely to go overspeed. A lower cost index will help in caseslike this.

And you ticket system does not work. I tried to submit 2 tickets and they do not submit. The windows buissy circle just sits and spins for ever. This has been happening all week. Do you have a phone number or something?

I don't work at PMDG.. I just fly the thing..

This brakes issue was very strange. I have had normal operation with this thing before and I do not have failures enabled either. After reverse thrust is of I click it to off and manually brake, that worked but then they would not release. The parking brake got them to release strange enough but it was not the parking brake that was on. Then the brakes would not work, no red brakes message or anything. I just reloaded the sim and they work fine now. Go figure. Also at the beginning of the flight as I took the runway at KSNA all of a sudden when I handed the radar contact 4.3 comms to the fo the mouse hand stopped working and I could not click on anything. I was stranded on the runway for 20 minutes holding up AI and then all of a sudden after minimizing and maximizing it worked again. I wonder if wheel cam had anything to do with that.

Dunno.. Like I say, I only use manual braking as the way to turn off the auto-brakes.I never turn off the switch, or use the spoiler stow method. " I think you can do thatanyway.."Try just using manual brakes only to turn it off. That should work, being as it doesfor me 100% of the time.Dunno about the other issue..

No, there is something wrong here. I just loaded a scenario to test the turb thing and the parking brake got stuck on again. Took 30 friggin minutes to set it up and I am stuck with the damn park brake on. There is a major issue with this.

In my infinite wisdom it turned out I did not realize someone choked my tires during the flight. So when I landed the tires were choked. Dont know how that is possible and still does not explain the inop brakes one time but hey it's fsx with a buzzilion addons supposedly done right for a change. The weather issue was worked out so far with FSUIPC. Turns out I was able to use my key code from the 3 version from fs9. This did not work a week ago, wonder why now. The smoothing did wonders. I think the most importaint thing for newcommers to realise with turbulence and this airplane is that there is a big difference in fsx beetween chop and turbulence. Chop does not effect the autopilots but turbulence (sudden changes in wind direction and/or velocity does). These are apparently modeled very differently in the sim. In real life they are just variations of each other in frequency and velocity but in the sim they are night and day. Smooth the wind and you got it, and you can keep the chop or (turbulence and stated in msfs language). I know everyone was on the edge of their seat for this one but I can assure you that you can relax now. Now for the next random occurence to have to deal with as is usuall with fsx and a bizzilion addons.

Yep, FSUIPC is a wonder tool. We have all experienced the sudden wind change issue at some time. FSUIPC is the bees knees. Disabling turbulence in FSUIPC will stop the S-Turn issue too. Pete Dowson deserves a medal.

If you are using ASE then apply the beta update, that will help. FSX weather is rubbish, REX and ASE are trying to make the best of a broken simulation.
