October 16, 201114 yr Hi Damian! I had tried SP3 when it first was released but without knowing how to properly set it up. I was thoroughly disgusted with the stutters and constant fsx wx updates that were occuring at critical times and would bring my equipment almost to a halt. I tried to get answers from Jim Skorna but his answers were more double-talk than informative. I continued to randomly experiment with different options with no luck and finally Jim informed me that if I wanted accurate weather I would just have to put up with the stuttering because it was a simconnect/FSX issue. That was an unacceptable answer so I uninstalled and reverted back to my old B572 with all its inherent inconsistencies. I have remained frustrated but ASE, IMHO, is the only game in town. I have been loosely following this forum hoping for a break-through. I am pleased that you have grabbed the helm on this, Damian. From what I have learned I am going to give SP3 a try again but not select Standard mode. One question: is there an updated version of the manual that explains these new options? I have learned quite a bit from this forum but still want to understand more thoroughly how these new different options were designed to work. Now I downloaded the SP3 back on Aug 23rd. Is that still the latest version? Is the Beta version to which you have referred the next update to that SP3 or is there one in between? Thank you for what I am hoping will be an improvement to a great product.
October 16, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hello Craig,I'm sorry you had a bad experience with support in the past. We're doing everything we can to improve our support and total end-user experience. Standard mode indeed is known to cause stutters, a byproduct of that weather setting mode. We recommend DWC most of the time, especially for those who need accurate winds aloft (this is the only solution we know of to get accurate winds aloft within FSX). If winds are not an issue for you, then Smooth Cloud Transitions mode provides a nice stutter-free experience, and is what was used in all versions prior to the availability of DWC. This is covered a bit in the manual under the options section. Hopefully the above information answers your questions. SP3 is the latest official version. B651 is in beta which you can download from the related pinned thread in this forum, fixing a few issues. Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
