How will AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core run FSX?

I thank you for the advice. I load FSX this morning and will use the Bojote tweak ... what an incredible help that will be. I don't wish to become the source of infinite questions, but does shader model refer to something in the Bojote site? M

Yes and also the fps limiter.

Sorry but that's wrong... First of all, FSX will use all available cores as long as you tell it to do so, i.e. add the [JOBSCHEDULER] section to your fsx.cfg. Now regarding your Phenom 9850, it will run FSX just fine. Remember that people use to run FSX on P4s! You will have to lower your settings, tune down AI traffic a little and forget about some eye candy such as the (useless) road traffic, but it will run it.
was shot running on a Phenom II X2 560, I had REX, GEX, UTX, autogen at Dense, road traffic on and FPS was locked at 30, no variation... the occasional stutter is caused by FRAPS. This was a real world test, not a half-speed shot/twice speed encoding trick as most FSX movie directors do by the way. Ok, the BD-5 is not exactly the most demanding plane in the FSX world, but let's just say that I run the VRS SuperBug with Traffic X set at 75% locked at 20fps at KSEA. People like to blast AMD because they don't "deliver"... Have you look at the price bracket they are in and the bang for bucks they provide? Pretty amazing, but yeah, not as powerful as the 300$ sandy-bridge CPU running on a 200$ motherboard. A Phenom X4 with 4gb DDR3 and a good mobo will cost you max 250, which is half of a sandy-brdige setup will cost you. So it's a budget CPU with amazing performance for the cost and will run FSX as long as you setup FSX for it. Cheers!
Sorry, but this is wrong information. FSX with SP2 will quite happily use all 4 cores without adding anything to the cfg. The affinity mask setting is not required, however you can use it as a 'tweak' if you have stutters etc.

Well, FSX is totally installed (with the Accel) and flies just fine. Now, I have to figure out how to set up the Saitek throttle quad and AP. Alas, my favorite plane, the Embraer Legacy will not couple with the Saitek A/P so I have to go with a default FSX aircraft (either Lear45 or the Citation). So far, frame rates are fine with the scenery slider up full. The panel in the default plane is garbage, so I'm going to add one of the better panels and just hope that it will not mess up the Saitek A/P (that only works with default planes ... something they don't say in their advertising). Then, we start to load in the scenery enhancers, etc and see what happens to the frame rate!!!!!! Thanks for all the help so far. M

For a Saitek controller you can use a tool call as FSUIPC

Not really. Saitek used the FSUIPC code without completing a usage license with Pete Dawson. So, Pete, understandably will not support Saitek. A solution might be in the new LINDA that I assume builds onto FSUIPC 4. M

Ok, no idea about LINDA.
