Hi: I upgraded to WIN 7 and while setting up partitions, accidentally deleted my entire FSX installation that was in its own partition. So, there should be nothing left from the old install. I set up a new partition for the drive dedicated to FSX and installed the program. When I try to run FSX Gold it stops with a screen that says "Flight Simulator requires at least one each of the following to run: an airport, a VOR, an NDB, and a waypoint. There is currently no waypoints in the dataset. Flight Simulator will now exit." I did a repair install, nothing changed. And, when I looked at the scenery.cfg in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX, its top lines refer to FS9 ([General] Title=FS9 World Scenery Description=FS9 Scenery Data What is going on? I'm using FSX with Saitek Throttle Quad (with the Saitek drivers) and MultiPanel (with SPAD). When I fly the Eaglesoft CJ-1 on an ILS approach using the Appr mode, everything goes fine until I disengage the A/P. At that point, the A/P is still in control of the throttle settings (as if it is still running and controlling the approach) ... if I click the IAS button on the Multipanel, the engines spool down and I can control the remainder of the approach -- even with that, sometimes I have to run the Throttle Quad up and then back down to where I want the throttle setting. This creates too much excitement at a critical time!Has anyone encountered this problem? Any ideas?Thanks,maestrogn

I'm flying the Lear 45 with Ernie Alston's add-on panel. The instruments show up fine in the Dusk, Dawn and Night modes, but the Day mode has no lighting ... the panel is so dark it is almost unreadable.Shift/L will toggle the cockpit lighting knob on the electronics panel, but nothing happens.Any ideas??maestrogn

Not really. Saitek used the FSUIPC code without completing a usage license with Pete Dawson. So, Pete, understandably will not support Saitek. A solution might be in the new LINDA that I assume builds onto FSUIPC 4. M

Well, FSX is totally installed (with the Accel) and flies just fine. Now, I have to figure out how to set up the Saitek throttle quad and AP. Alas, my favorite plane, the Embraer Legacy will not couple with the Saitek A/P so I have to go with a default FSX aircraft (either Lear45 or the Citation). So far, frame rates are fine with the scenery slider up full. The panel in the default plane is garbage, so I'm going to add one of the better panels and just hope that it will not mess up the Saitek A/P (that only works with default planes ... something they don't say in their advertising). Then, we start to load in the scenery enhancers, etc and see what happens to the frame rate!!!!!! Thanks for all the help so far. M

I thank you for the advice. I load FSX this morning and will use the Bojote tweak ... what an incredible help that will be. I don't wish to become the source of infinite questions, but does shader model refer to something in the Bojote site? M

Thanks to all for the help so far. I'm at the machine right now, so I can report that my video card is ATI Radeon HD 4200. I assume that's bad? Also, to Ironmaiden -- what is the Bojote tweak? M

My main concern is my old ATI card, so I might have to spring for a newer video card ... Speaking of cores, the reason I bought the Gold edition of FSX was so it could use those 4 cores right from the git-go. I'm away from that computer, but it is a quite old ATI video card. I just looked at some higher end cards and got instant sticker shock. It may force me to stay with my tricked out FS9 (with all kinds of scenery add-ins). I would love all the FSX eye candy ... but $250+ for a GPU right now is a bit of a stretch. Any advice? maestrogn

Thanks for that reply. I had a reply on another forum that suggested upgrading the video card (to GPU?) first, and then processor. Does that make sense to you? Not having any experience with FSX, what frame rate is considered desirable and where does the 27-29 fit into that scheme. maestrogn

FSX Gold should arrive via UPS today. Just trying to get a heads up if this is going to turn into a very expensive upgrade from FS9. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Torkermax. I thought that some download from MS, or even the Accelerator package that comes with Gold was supposed to solve the core problem and that all 4 cores would be utilized.

I am upgrading from FS9 to FSX (Gold). I have an AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core with 4 gigs of RAM. How will this do with FSX Gold? Any tips on overclocking? Etc. Thanks, Maestrogn

Hi:I fly the EMB135 from FeelThere and use the Saitek Throttle Quad. OK on programming the throttle and flaps (far left and far right axis). But I would like to program the middle axis as gear up/down ... simply, when full down, gear is down, full up, gear goes up, in the middle, nothing ... just like the gear lever in a cockpit.I've tried for several hours now using both the Saitek SST and the FS9 setup.Has anyone tried this? Has anyone succeeded?I would love to know how you did it.Thanks,meastrogn

Before you answer this post -- I uninstalled UT USA and reinstalled it and now it is in the lineup of available scenery for FS-9.Thanks for wanting to answer ,....:rolleyes:maestrogn

I have installed both UT USA and UT Europe in my FS2004(FS9) directory . When I run the FS and go to settings/scenery, the UT-Europe files are there and checked for use. However, there are no files that indicate they are UT-USA. Did I do something wrong in the install?Thanks,Maestrogn

I'm going back to flying FS2004 after a long hiatus and read the glowing reviews of FSgenesis. It is something that I think would greatly improve the experience.However, for a newbie, it is totally confusing as to what I need to buy at the storefront.I fly the US (mostly the northeast) and Central Europe (including Austria).
