It's PMDG's fault...

...Thursday, I went and spent over $2,000 on the parts for a new computer. For some reason, I also bought the PMDG 737 NGX Thursday night, and tried it out on my "old" system (Mac Pro with ATI 5780 card). I'm getting 25-30 FPS reliably on the Mac. Here's what I blame PMDG for: The new computer is still in parts in the other room-- I haven't been able to pull myself away from the NGX long enough to finish building the new system! Man, this thing is great (currently at FL 250, enroute KSNA-KSJC)... Kent

I suspect with time PMDG will find themselves at the sharp end of many law suits. No doubt from dozens, maybe hundreds of guys in a similar situation. Some will be from broken marriages, some blaming PMDG for the impact they have had on child negligence, some from poor souls who's OCD has been exasperated and also many claims from those who have found themselves drawn over to the dark side! More than anything, I suspect in the not too distant future, PMDG will be held responsible from individual's suffering from many medical conditions that, amongst many will include, RSI injuries, irritable bowl syndrome, eyesight deterioration, back problems and sleep deprivation. I can only hope that PMDG can sell enough copies of their aircraft to sustain long term financial funding for the inevitable onslaught from these legal challenges.

I didn't know PMDG NGX's requirements included go and buy a new computer :( I'm getting nice frame rates on my rig (12-18 in the cockpit at the gate at KORD FSDT scenery and 25+ at cruise altitude) with all the bars maxed out, you really need to have FSX run on a separate HD for it to work flawlessly. It gave me an additional 60% increase in frame rates since I moved it from the "C" drive and I was only able to run my bars maybe at 20%. I run in the 50's on my other aircraft like LDS 767 and Wilco products. PMDG is really detail oriented and I really like their new NGX. As a matter of fact, it's so much new learning it gives me a headache (in a good way). But it really is a great piece of machine where the money was well spent.
