January 27, 200422 yr Well, as with most of the guys here have said I got the plane... flew it... 2 minutes later I killed it. Some nice chap offered to replace the- engines free of charge!! Pretty cool!!Now, I am not going to say my PC specs as I would be highly embarrassed but nonetheless the plane, still performs and looks beautiful on my old clunker. I will probably opt for the DXT textures, at least up until I build my new rig in february.I highly suggest you look into it, the damage modeling adds a serious level of realism, it makes you think before you fly, I like that.I have always enjoyed FSD's creations as they bring back memories of when I spent most of my time at airports chartering people around. We used Aztecs, Navajos, Cessna 402 b and c models, we had a fleet of C172s. And at some point we also flew for a short time a Navajo Cheiftain, what a big hunk-o-metal that was.I even flew on a Seneca on short flight to pick up one of our Navajos, and I sat in the rear....that has got to be the scariest place to sit in a Seneca.Keep'm coming!! January 27, 200422 yr >>After flying this since release I would rate it at a 9.5/10>.>>>Not got it yet but will do soon. As a comparison for myself>and others, how would you rate it against the Dreamfleet 310>which is an awsome machine to fly :-smile12 >>Ian (EGPF) :-wave Hi Ian,I also own most of the dreamfleet aircraft, including the 310 and agree the 310 is an awesome plane to fly.I would put the Navajo slightly ahead but of course this is IMHO.To give you an idea of how real it is:I did a flight on Vatsim last night and after landing kept the engines running so I could do a fast turn around. Was a great flight and everything went well. Just like in real life you need to close the cowlflaps on descent so that the engines do not cool too quickly and get damaged. Flying the Navajo I am very careful about all the various temps (the engine damage modelling is that good)Was in a bit of a hurry and did not carefully go through the checklist before takeoff as I normally do. As I was flying online at night, I should have been a lot more careful! Was a great takeoff, carefully brought the power, rpm, mixture etc back in the climb and was feeling good when all of a sudden, left engine failure. Was just advising ATC and setting up for 1 engine when the right engine sputtered out. Tried an air restart but no go. As it was a dark night I prepared to say goodbye :-)Since I was below 2,000 feet I put down straight ahead and almost made it when the right wing clipped a tree and the rest, as they say, is history.I was about to blame the poor FSD guys as I thought it must have been the dreaded "engine damage modelling bug" when I realised that I had not opened the cowl flaps before takeoff and probably overheated the engines. This plane takes it to a whole new level :-)Thanks FSD!
January 28, 200422 yr Hey Bill,>I like it, but why a Panther? Panthers are rare as hen's teeth. How >about a real "Navahog"? Otherwise, it's a nice job.I agree as well.. why not a Chieftain.. 2 TIO-540-J2BDs putting out 350 a side, model in a VG kit to life the gross to 7400 pounds, and we'd be talking...I'm still looking at it just because its Navajo and thats what I fly. If it was a Chieftain I'd have no questions! Maybe some designer out there could do a Chieftain... I've obviously got access to the POH and could supply ANY details necessary.Chris
