January 26, 200422 yr So hows the Navajo handle on the sim?? I've got a Chieftain IFR PPC coming up in the next few weeks and wondering if its worth it??Chris
January 26, 200422 yr I just got the Navajo 2 hours ago and I must say this is worth every penny! The visual model is superb, IMHO the VC is one of the nicest I have seen and the flight data seems to be spot on. The only issue is with the engine damage control where the engines seems to turn off after a couple of minutes of flight. For now I just turned off the damage control but FSD has a patch for that that is almost ready for release. The other minor glitch is with the time the exterior textures loads, a little longer than most aircraft. Once again the team is at work converting the textures to DTX# format for those running on a slower system.Overall I would say 8.5/10Hope this helps! I am sure you will enjoy this great aircraft.
January 26, 200422 yr In order to get the textures to load faster you may need to defragment your hard drive... Since FS2k4 is soo '.bmp' dependant I almost always defragment my drive after installing new aircraft and scenery...Dillon--P.S. The FSD Navajo is one of the best GA aircraft released for FS2k4. FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
January 27, 200422 yr Well i converted the .BMP files to DXT3 and they load so much faster now! with the BMP it would take about 10 seconds for the whole textures to load, now it is instantaneous. Also, guys, with all due respect, if you want to comment on the Navajo, please don't PM each others, post it here so everyone can benefit of your opinions, wether it's a good or a bad one. Thanks!
January 27, 200422 yr I just downloaded the Navaho tonight, and like everyone else, I hopped in, took off, and promptly killed the engines. It glides real well. :)I was able to bring it to a safe dead-stick landing on a road. It does handle real well. I took a second flight and was able to bring it in for a nice smooth landing on a runway this time.I've already downloaded 4 additional paint schemes for it. Really nice plane. It's funny, I only paid $29. for FS2004 and I've already spent four times that on add-ons.
January 27, 200422 yr Radarbeam, for respect to FSD I decided to wait until the release of the patch and then I'll make a detailed public opinion. Carlos.PS: Jeeeze, I
January 27, 200422 yr No problem Carlos. I completely understand. I really love the Navajo, but like everyone I would like to enjoy the engine damage control, I'm sure the FSD guys are going to patch this in no time.Jim, if you don't like the Navajo as a glider ;) just change the realism model to none in the load manager until FSD release their patch, the maintenance and operation feature will still work and you will still be able to see your virtual wallet get thiner and thiner.Cheers!
January 27, 200422 yr I like it, but why a Panther? Panthers are rare as hen's teeth. How about a real "Navahog"? Otherwise, it's a nice job.Best,Bill
January 27, 200422 yr I love the panther convertion. Those winglets looks wickedly cool plus those 2 350HP Lycomings really improves the navajo's performances. Check out the prices of the convertion; With Factory New Engines -- $167,500.00With Factory Overhauled Engines -- $140,500.00Zip Tip Winglets With Landing Lights @ time of conversion -- $6,000.00Not bad, we got it for under 25$ lol!
January 27, 200422 yr Hi,After flying this since release I would rate it at a 9.5/10 .I too had a "dead stick" landing on my first flight :-)but after learning how to handle the engines properly have had no more problems. (I understand some people are having some problems and a patch is being issued)It looks fantastic and is a joy to fly. There have already been some excellent new paint jobs which are easy to download and install.Since putting in the latest Omega drivers based on the ATI Catalyst 4.1 release have had no delays in texture loading. I have a good performace machine, a Pentium 4 2.6Ghz and an ATI 9700Pro.If you like twins, as I do, then this is a superb aircraft!
January 27, 200422 yr >After flying this since release I would rate it at a 9.5/10 .Not got it yet but will do soon. As a comparison for myself and others, how would you rate it against the Dreamfleet 310 which is an awsome machine to fly :-smile12 Ian (EGPF) :-wave

January 27, 200422 yr We expect it to be reduced from 3 to 0%, hopefully sometime today.http://www.fsd-international.com/team/Steve_signature.gif
