Airport environment sound file

Featured Replies

FSX has a default airport sound when you're at a terminal. I've become rather annoyed with it, and would like to edit it if possible. Would anyone happen to know the name and location of this file?

Sounds are stored in the Sound folder of your FSX installation. To discover which sound file is playing while you're at an airport and is annoying you:

  1. Make a backup copy of the Sounds folder.
  2. Start FSX.
  3. Place yourself at the airport with the annoying sound playing.
  4. Delete all files in the Sound folder.
  5. You will not be able to delete the annoying sound file that is playing because it will be "in use" (locked).
  6. Exit FSX.
  7. Restore all the sound files you deleted.
  8. Play the annoying sound file to confirm it is the file you want to get rid of.
  9. Make a backup of that file in case you want it back.
  10. Use Windows Sound Recorder to record a very short sound of absolutely nothing (mute the microsphone input).
  11. Place the recorded file into the FSX Sound directory.
  12. Name give that file the name of the annoying saound file you wanted to get rid of.

Jahman, thanks for your reply. Point #5 was something I forgot, and that should steer me right to my problem. Thanks again.
