November 3, 201114 yr I had ASE working fine on a client machine. Something has broken and I have reviewed the troubleshooting steps in the manual. One thing I am not clear on; is simconnet installed on both the client and the FSX machine?Additionally, I have a question about the following instruction:Reinstalling the FSX update(s) (recommended procedure)The first step in attempting to repair your SimConnect installation is to uninstall/reinstall FSX’s SP1 or SP2 update. Removal is done in add/remove programs, making sure to check the "Show updates" box to see the SP1, SP2 or Acceleration/SP2 update entry (if XP) or choosing the "View installed updates" option in (Vista). The majority of potential installation issues will be solved with this method.I am running FSX/Acceleration. I only see in the Control Panel>Uninstall Programs is a single entry for FSX/Acceleration.It seems to me if I uninstall FSX/Acceleration, we are really talking about a complete FSX uninstall and re-install?Thanks, Brad Rich
November 3, 201114 yr Hello BradThis is also what I have just FSX/Acelleration, uninstalling this may just take out Acceleration, how lucky do you feel ?The document that you quoted from the XPax site is on the money, you do sometimes have to delete the Simconnect folders in Windowswinsxsbefore the new SimConnect.msi's will recreate the directory's correctly. If it does just take out Acceleration I would the start by installing the service packs and sdk's in their correct order followed by acceleration. This will make sure that the correct versions of simconnect are present in C:WindowswinsxsOnce you have all of the sdk's installed and have the relevant Simconnect.msi's you may need to copy them over to the client and rebuild simconnect on there as well. You may need to delete the simconnect folders on the client machine in C:Windowswinsxs before they will install correctly. After that it is just a matter of making sure the correct CFG and ini files are in the right places. Finally you may need to reinstall Fsuipc4 in order for it to add itself to the SimConnect.xml file, the bit it adds is in red belowC:UsersyournameDocumentsSimConnect.ini[simConnect]level=verboseconsole=0;RedirectStdOutToConsole=1;OutputDebugString=1;file=c:simconnect%03u.log;file_next_index=0;file_max_index=9C:UsersyournameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSXSimconnect.xml<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?><SimBase.Document Type="SimConnect" version="1,0"> <Descr>SimConnect</Descr> <Filename>SimConnect.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol> <Scope>global</Scope> <Address>your IP or Machine name</Address> <MaxClients>64</MaxClients> <Port>500</Port> <MaxRecvSize>4096</MaxRecvSize> <DisableNagle>False</DisableNagle> </SimConnect.Comm> <SimConnect.Comm> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Protocol>Auto</Protocol> <Scope>Global</Scope> </SimConnect.Comm><SimConnect.Comm><Disabled>False</Disabled><Protocol>Auto</Protocol><Scope>local</Scope></SimConnect.Comm></SimBase.Document>On the Client machineC:UsersyournameDocumentsSimConnect.cfg[simConnect]Protocol=IPv4Address=your IP or Machine namePort=500MaxReceiveSize=4096DisableNagle=0
November 3, 201114 yr Author No, I do not feel lucky. I will install FSX/Acell on another machine and uninstall to find out what happens. I think I will start by replacing simconnect on both machines. I already did this but did not delete in Windowswinsxs. I only unoinstalled simconnect. In the mean time, I have ASE running on the FSX machine. The strange fact is the Aivlasoft EFB works on the client. Maybe it does not use Simconnect? Thanks as always for your help.Brad Brad Rich

November 6, 201114 yr Author Well I have to fess up to the solution to my problem to better burn this into my mind. The solution was simple as it usually is. The IP address on the FSX server had changed to dynamic. This happened when I installed a high performance gaming network card. I never thought about looking at the IP setting since I thought I knew it was correct have been that way for the better part of a year. I should have associated the new network card with ASE failing to talk to the server right away. I was confused because ASE would make the simconnect connection but the map would not work. Lesson; change one thing at a time and assocaite any new problems with that change. Pretty obvious. Brad Rich
