localizer capture

After having applied the VOR/LOC button and approaching the glidepath I cannot seem to determine if and when the localizer is captured after which I must apply the APP button.Will someone out there please be so kind and help me find the answer in order I can start making nice and smooth ILS landings landing.ThanksDirk M. Karmelk/The Netherlands

Watch the needles on the PFD, when the LOC indicator starts to move, engage VOR/LOC and then when the GS diamond is about 1/2 dot high, hit APPR.

when localizer capture, hit the app, if you have the right frequency which you can test, its should do everything automatic,Daniel

Or you could simply hit the approach button from the start. The jet will capture the LOC just fine in the APP mode. Look at the FMA to see when the LOC and the G/S capture.

Maybe I'm wrong because I'm still learning but when you press the LOC it seeks for the localizer and the annunciator is white , then when it catches the LOC the annunciator becomes green VOR/LOC.
