A little problem with Captain's CDU Post SP1.

Recommended Posts

Since updating to SP1 I've been having a little problem with the captain's CDU. Before filing a support ticket (and ginving the guys at PMDG even more work), I thought I'd ask here if somebody recognizes this. The scenario is as follows:When I load the NGX, the captain's CDU is blank. It's not like the other screens in the flight deck, which are powered but just black. My Captain's CDU is completely blank (like the screen has no power at all.)Holding the MENU button does not activate the CDU. What does work, is clicking on the CDU screen, this brings the CDU into the "2D view", where everything seems fine, I can see the menu. If I close the 2D view, everything is normal, the CDU works like it always has. This problem is not limited to one model in the NGX range, it effects every model from 600 to 900.I'll make some pictures later tonight, but if somebody recognizes this and knows the answer, go ahead and post.

PMDG are aware of this problem.*************************************************************************We found the source of the the blank captain's FMC CDU when using panel states late last night - it'll be fixed shortly in an update but the fix is quite simple if you want to do it yourself right now:Go to the FSXPMDGPMDG 737 NGXPanelSate folder - open each one of the NGX*.sav files in notepad or a similar plaintext editor - find the line under [CDU.0] that says "2DOpen=1" - set it to 0 and the problem will be fixed. The panel states were saved with the 2D popup version of the FMC open and the code wasn't accounting for it - the VC version blanks out if the 2D one is open to save performance and it thinks the 2D is open when it isn't - that's the source of the problem.Ryan Maziarz***********************************************Fred.
