November 19, 201114 yr This looks very interesting. From what I gather, it should load FSX faster than an SSD would. Is this correct?
November 19, 201114 yr A RAM disk needs to be loaded upon startup, and offloaded to disk before shut down. Assuming your FSX install fits in 52GB you can expect massive Windows startup and shutdown times. So it's robbing Peter $1000 to pay Paul 1$, unless you plan on never shutting down your systemIf your FSX fits in 52GB I wouldn't expect it to take too long to load anyway, it's when you add lots of scenery that it takes long to load, like MyTrafficX, the IVAO MTL...

November 20, 201114 yr Author In my deep and methodical research about ram disks, I uncovered an amazing use for it. I was going to hold off sharing but that would be selfish of me. It will speed up loading texture maps for .. the game ... hope you are sitting and not standing ... the game ... loved by ... uh 12 year olds? Hmmm... anyways here goes... the game .... Mindcraft. Yup, that blocky 80"s looking bundle of time wasting fun where you, dig around and do time wasting fun stuff. Having it load faster with a ramdisk must really be a life changing experience for all those mindcraft lovers. I am too chicken to goof around ramdisk and find I just porked my FSX due to me not knowing what I am doing. So .. after all is said and done: Note: No Mindcraft players were harmed in the making of this post. ( I hope I did not offend any mindcraft players, the 12 year old comment was ment as a joke).
