Crashes to desktop with all FSDT sceneries

Featured Replies

Hi,Just have another problem with FSX. I'm already using FSDT KJFK KORD LSGG and LSZH for a long long time now, and never had any problems. I'm trying to get support on the FSDT forum also, but right here are most of the time a lot of clever people who might be able to solve this problem with me. Yes I know this is a little off topic... My problem is that everytime I load my aircraft on one of those four FSDT airports, or approach one of those airports, the sim crashes to desktop, saying "fatal error occured...". I tried uninstalling FSDT sceneries along with it's add-on manager. After that I deleted every FSDT folder manually also from the appdata folder. I reinstalled everything and still have the same problem. This is still the trial version of course, I cannot enter my serial because I can't open add-on manager because FSX has already crashed before I even try to do so. I deleted add-on manager and there was no crash at all. But of course then there are no buildings... So I know the problem must be add-on manager. This is everything I tried but did not work:1. Reinstalling everything, running it as administrator2. Restored my back up in GEX3. Deleted the entries of add-on manager in the dll.xml, and placed it down the list instead of on top.4. Uninstalled FSCopilot, FSInn and Squawkbox5. Installed newest version of Add-on Manager from the FSDT website6. Turning down the graphics and scenery settings7. Turning off all AII do not have UTX installed. I do have UiAutomationCore.dll installed. I do have a tweaked FSX.cfg with also the HIGHMEMFIX=1 in it. My anti virus is not blocking anything, firewall is also off.Recently I have bought and installed some Aerosoft sceneries. Last week everything still worked fine. I think add-on manager is having problems with another programm. I'm just trying to figure out which one.If have you any suggestions, that would be great. I hate reinstalling FSX... Along with all my add-ons. Such a painful job. For me, I've almost been spending more time to solving problem with FSX, then actually flying itself. Thanks in advance!

Did you uninstall the addon manager before installing the new version? Ran it as admin?

Yes, I did. I deleted everything assosiated with FSDT. I'm now deleting FSUIPC, Aerosoft Launcher, VistaMare. One thing that looks a little suspicious though, is SimConnect. Does FSDT or Add-On Manager use SimConnect?

Arjen Vandervelde

I don't think so, but I can't say for sure. If it does there's bound to be a reference to it somewhere on their forums. If your simconnect is corrupted however, I would expect the NGX & several other addons to stop working.

I tried uninstalling all those other stuff, reinstalling FSDT, but it crashes again. WIth the default FSX.cfg.How do I view the error log folder, maybe I can find it. BTW, FSX is also running as admin.

After viewing error log, I have found this. For some reason I can not copy it, but it's saying that the module with error is: MSVCR80.dllMaybe you know the solution to this problem? Again: this happens everytime I approach an FSDT airport, or load my aircraft on an FSDT airport. This does not happen when I have add-on manager not installed, but then the building obviously are not there.I have FSX as admin. I have several files to reduce crashes also. (UiAutomationCore.dll). I am NEVER experiencing any crashes nor freezes at all, except in these occasions. This has started happening today. The last time everything was still working correctly was about a week ago. I suspect my fsx.exe maybe infected by a virus. Do you know how I can check this?

Arjen Vandervelde

Just boot into safe mode & run a full scan. Or scan that hd with another pc (my preferred method)Before doing that, try backing up your fsx.cfg somewhere and let fsx build a new file. I've had some strange problems that were magically fixed by doing that.Edit: Something worth noting, while error reports are useful diagnostic tools, they can be misleading. There could have been something else going on that caused fsx to crash the next time it called on one & that dll just happened to have an unlucky number.

I had this exact problem with the MSVCR80.dll and anytime I was in the vincinity of an FSDT airport I would crash. Went through a couple days of tech support at FSDT before we finally tracked the problem down and it was my fault. For FSDT Sceneries to work there are 2 versions of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable that are required. The first one is installed during the installation of FSX. The other one is installed by FSDT Scenery. What caused my problem was being the neat freak that I am I thought I had multiple copies of the same 2005 redistributable. So like an idiot I uninstalled one of them from Programs an Features. This caused the MSVCR80.dll error to occur. And of course it was not the easy one that I could have just downloaded from Microsoft website, it was older one that FSX installs. So the only way I was able to get it back was to do a complete reinstall of FSX which was a total time consuming bummer. But you might be able to find it on the Microsoft website I dunno. 1 version is the original 2005 C++ and the other one is like a SP1 version. Currently in my Programs and Features there are 3 2005 redistributables. It varies based on what software you have installed as the software installs whatever versions of C++ you need.Moral of this story is, never uninstall or remove any of your C++ Redestributables even if it looks like you have multiple copies of the same one, cause they are all different.

Thanks, just read about it in their forums. I tried uninstalling all 2005 redistr. and then downloaded them from Microsoft and reïnstalled them. FSX worked fine but the problem at FSDT airports remained. I really can't remember that I deleted any of the Microsoft C++ VS2005 Redistributables. Perhaps it has been caused by installing an add-on, which installed another version of the redistributables or something, very strange. I guess I'll have to go the painful job now too, reinstalling FSX. Along with all my PMDG aircraft, douzens of Aerosoft sceneries and other stuff. Is at least gonna take another few days... :(

Here was your problem, exactly the same as mine:http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=tpcjvfg4t3vuvp1c0dt2cmdap4&topic=3828.msg34297#msg34297

I never tried this but maybe it's possible for you to do the following. Back up the complete contents of your FSX Drive. Then just install FSX SP1 and SP2. Then copy all your stuff back in there over top of it. Might work? Essentially the only thing your trying to do is get that old FSX C++ 2005 back in there. If it does not work and you end up reinstalling everything don't forget to Defrag a lot, it helps.Example install FSX SP1 SP2 - DefragInstall UTX or GEX or something like that - DefragInstall REX - DefragInstall 5 or 6 airport sceneries - Defragetc

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. It's getting late here (3.00 am), have been spending all night trying to solve this. Need to go to bed now. But do you mean reinstalling SP1 and SP2 only, or totally reinstalling FSX along with SP1 and SP2?

Arjen Vandervelde

You have to reinstall FSX then SP1 and SP2. Unless the FSX disc you have already has SP1 on it

Ok thanks, I'm gonna try this all now. I'm uninstall my PMDG aircraft only. Then I'm gonna copy my C:/FSX folder and C:/Users/Arjen/Appdata/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX folder, and save them somewhere else. Then I'm gonna uninstall FSX. Reinstall it, install SP1 and SP2. Then I'm gonna install all my PMDG aircraft first. Then FSDreamteam and let's see how's that gonna work. I'm afraid that I will have to totally reinstall WIndows, because there is something wrong with the C++ VS2005 Redistributable. Shall I first uninstall VS 2005, and let FSX reinstall it? I'll report back later if this has all worked. Thanks!

Arjen Vandervelde

I am not sure if you should do that or not I do not think it will hurt to uninstall the 2005 stuff cause FSX is going to install one version and FSDT the other version. At the very least install your FSDT scenery first and test it out to be sure it works before you go to the hassle of installing all the other stuff. Just use the bell helicopter to test it.
