November 23, 201114 yr Hey guys, I really don't know much about computers so I really don't know what to upgrade in my system so I can run FSX with Add-ons in 30+ FPS... Right now I get 10FPS with REX and PMDG 747 in CYVR area but higher frames if I go outside cockpit (25+FPS)Specs:Motherboard: P5B SE (P965)Processor:Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GhzRAM: Corsair 2x2GB(800Mhz) + 2x1GB Samsung M3(400Mhz).GPU: GT 220 NVIDIA500W Power SupplyCase: Thermaltake Tsunami DreamIt's been about 4 years so.... The whole thing might be crap but I just can't afford a new computer right now. Any recommendations?Andrew Coz Andrew i7 3820 @ 3.6 / P9X79LE / 16GB RAM / GTX 660
November 23, 201114 yr the quad can be overclocked to 3.36 Gig using a water closed-circuit cooler, about 70 bucksThis alone will improve things a lot, maybe 33% more fps? nor sure Just the same inform yourself about the how and whatnots of overclocking the Q6600, saving you worry and allowing for a comfortable overclockbut the motherboard you have, a slimmed down version by the telling of the suffix SE may be harder to overclock but not impossible: however, check that out first do a google search for the board as it relates to OCingallen
November 23, 201114 yr Author Apparently, It can't... But what are your recommendations on if I was to get a new motherboard what would the ideal one be? Also the cheapest gpu with the biggest bang for the buck but still run FSX? Andrew i7 3820 @ 3.6 / P9X79LE / 16GB RAM / GTX 660
November 23, 201114 yr check eBay for the P5Q PRO used, not new for cheap price, or you can OC the P5QL PRO which is cheaperYour GPU can be upgraded to anything better than what you have after a few months of enjoying a faster CPUI have no other suggestions
November 23, 201114 yr I would skip on the new motherboard and use this computer until you're ready for a new one. Performance gain from an overclock to me just wouldn't justify the effort, time, and money for a new motherboard. In the end you'd still wish you had bought a newer architecture. The Q6600 was a decent overclocker in it's day, but that would be lost on the GT 220.In the mean time, if you really must side grade (again, I wouldn't), a GTX 560 would be the only thing I'd touch. --With a caveat-- I'm not sure that 500W (what brand and model?) would cut it. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

Even with a very tight budget, you can build an impressive 1155 machine. I would just focus your efforts on saving up for that Corey Meeks FS2020 | AMD 7800X3D | ASUS ProArt 4080 Super | ASUS B650E-I Mini ITX | 2x32Gb DDR5-6000 CL32 | DELL 38" U3818DW (3840x1600) | FormD T1 | Thermalright AXP90-47 | Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 1000W
