AI Aircarft black

Featured Replies

hi, ive searched all over the web and couldnt find an answer that helped me. My problem is that i installed TFS a330-300 AI in to fsx and added a singapore airlines livery however, when it shows up its black and not texture, now i know they show up black from a distance but this aircraft doesnt change no matter what, it stays black and ive messed around with the aircraft.cfg and things such as that but nothing is there a way to fix this or will i have to do what ive been doing before and try and find an alternative repaint?

Make sure you are using the correct model and engine variant. Using the wrong one is usually the cause of black ai.

nope still havent had any luck, made sure everything is right. it might be the paint but i cant see any reason for this as every other texture ive put on has worked

Check if the texture names are according to syntax. Look at one texture folder of that aircraft with correct textures and check the spelling with the Singapore one. You may have a conflict between the engines mentioned in the .cfg file and the texture files. For the SIngapore variant the texture file name should be TFS_A333_RR_T. If in your aircraft.cfg file it says the model is GE, you will end up with a black aircraft. Make sure engine types match.Which TFS aircraft are you using? The ones from UT2 or the ones they uploaded for free. There is a difference between the syntax of the filenames. In case of the UT2 version the texture file name is TFS_A333_T. And you shouldnot use the model=RR option in the cfg. file but replace the model with the model from the UT2 directory.Menno

that was fine, everything is how it should be from what i can see yet nothings changed

Download the demo for FSrepaint. It is available somewhere. For the most part, if the aircraft is installed correctly, it will show up in FSRepaint. Also try ACA2007 light: http://aifs2.pvdveen.net/?page_id=5. I will show you if things are not installed right.Another thing to look for - make sure Texture= entry the aircraft.cfg is the right path to the textures. Some painters have gotten in to the habit of putting several paints for one airline in one texture folder. Make sure your Texture.XXX has one day bmp and one night bmp.I don't recall DX10 creating black textures, you may also want to uncheck DX10 preview.Honestly, I have been installing AI (manually, UT, WofAI, MRAI...) since day one when they figured out how to do it for FS2002 in the AVSIM TTools forum. I still make mistakes and 99.99% of the time, it is my fault. If you want, copy and past the name of the texture folder, the names of the .bmp's and the aircraft.cfg entry in to the forum.

It may even be something as stupid like a space following the file name; say in your aircraft.cfg file the texture name is TFS_A333_RR_T and some spaces following it and you only copied the text, than it will not work.Highlight the whole name, pull the mouse further to the right than just for the text. Should there be spaces, it will show in blue. I have spent days trying to figure out why my aircraft was still black until I found out. Some designers put a lot of spaces behind the text for some reason.Menno
