November 26, 201114 yr Core 2 duo E6850 3.0 GHz. Win XP 4MB RAM; GTX460 video card with latest drivers (like 2.85 or something)Am getting a decent low 20s or so FPS with sorta-medium settings, but I get a God-awful, pause (maybe lasting 1 sec) every 15-30 seconds. It's one of those pauses where if you're panning around the the VC and you get the pause, the screen jumps to the new position once the pause ends. It's not something I can live with.Any ideas? James
November 26, 201114 yr Your best bet is to file a bug report to Laminar.VERY IMPORTANT!!! Before sending the report, read the instructions on the correct way to do it on page 119 of X-Plane 10 manual. The link to send the report is:http://dev.x-plane.com/support/bugreport.htmlBe sure to include the log.txt file located in your X-Plane folder. These and other instructions are located on the specific page of the manual I mentioned.Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
November 26, 201114 yr Author Now, all of a sudden, I can't get any higher than 10 fps... rebooted, no dice... verified all rendering options, no dice... I don't get it...Have never purchased a single version of X-Plane and that's going to continue, especially since it's $80.I REALLY wanted to like XP 10; I really did.
November 27, 201114 yr Consider that, neverthless Laminar says, this is in practice an early beta version. You could try the demo again when it will be around 10.2 or 10.3 and then decide.Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
November 27, 201114 yr Im getting the pausing also. I've been playing with settings, and will continue to, hope to find out what might be the cause.
November 27, 201114 yr The sim is probably emptying your RAM too fast as you run out soon with (effectively) 3Gigs
November 27, 201114 yr The sim is probably emptying your RAM too fast as you run out soon with (effectively) 3GigsI noticed the OP was running windows XP ... you may want to consider upgrading your OS to Windows 7 or dual booting to Linux (btw ... X-Plane runs the fastest under Linux)http://www.x-plane.com/blog/2011/08/comments-cats-etc/"For X-Plane 9, we put a third party high-speed allocator, “NEDMalloc” into X-Plane. We will not be doing this for X-Plane 10. All of the modern OSes (modern Linux, OS X 10.6/10.7, and Windows 7) contain high quality system allocators, and having a second allocator “layered on top” lowers our total memory capacity, which we don’t want to do."
