W2000 SP4 required for Cat 4.1?

Featured Replies

I would like to update my ATI driver to 4.1. ATI website says W2000 SP4 is required. However, I have read some problems with SP4.Does anyone know if SP4 is essential? Thanks for you response.

I have had SP4 in Win2K Pro for many months with no know problems. I also installed the Cat 4.1s on my machine a few weeks ago. I noticed no real improvements in FS, but noted some modest deterioration in TW04, so I went back to the 3.7s.Noel

Thanks for the response. I am going to hold off on 4.1 for now.

I went through the process this morning, so it is too soon to tell whether it was worth it. I just installed FS2004 a couple of days ago, and have a flicker issue with my display using the 9800 Pro card. Another thread here said to upgrade the Catalyst driver from 3.8 to 3.9. When I saw that 4.1 was the latest, I got it instead. And since it said it required SP4, I went ahead and installed it. Too soon to say whether it fixed my display flicker.-Basil
