FSD Navajo - Sim Performance Question?

Featured Replies

Tim, just saw your post and downloaded one of the DXT3 textures. Big difference! Looking forward to flying this baby, looks like fun. Thx for the quick reply...rgds,billg

The standard textures that comes with the plane are very high resolution. It does take a little more rendering muscle to display them. The DXT compressed textures are not quite as sharp, but as you see they dramatically increase performance. The two types are identified in our Repaint Hangar.http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif

Tim....I'm running a 17" moniter 1024X768 16 million colors. I have a GeForce 4 4600ti AGP card.I can't, for the life of me, see one whit of difference between 32 bit and DXT3 except that the 32 bit is about 4 times as large and really slow things down. The quality of both is the same, visually. All the repaints I do are in DXT3 format. My 2 cents.Joe W.

We appreciate the DXT3 textures, Tim. They really do make a big difference. And one thing I will suggest for everyone with performance issues (computer not male enhancement!) that on the Navajo to set your VC to lower resolution. I know, the VC is a work of art and it sounds like sacrelig to do so. But honestly, the VC STILL looks pretty darn good in low-res mode. Try it out.Signed, one extremely satisfied, not scared of FSD(give me a break!), tired of all the pi$$ing and moaning about FSD customer. You complainers are in the MINORITY. Give it a rest, it's bad for the community.

And I do have a similarly configured Navajo and it is running great, so is the Meridian on my system, especially since the latest v2.1 version of the Reality XP's Flight Line 530XP! By the way, speaking of performance with Reality XP products and the WX500 radar:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...p?TID=6388&PN=1DXT3 is the way to go then. Not all graphic cards work the same and with the highly detailled textures (which are wonderfull and true to life with the Navajo), maybe some video cards are just at the edge!Congrats on this fine release FSD!Hope this helps!

Well said Janey,Do to others, as you would have them do to you. I have always lived by that rule. It's nice to know there are many also who do the same. And it does work. It doesn't matter who you deal with, whether it be FSD, or any of the other extremely talented developers (DF, F1, ESD, PSS, POSKY, PAI) whoever you deal with. Respect is a must in all communications on both sides. Words can be very powerful, and can be taken the wrong way. True everyone is from different lands and cultures and attitudes, BUT kindness is common thread throughout all of them.

Politeness is a must, but respect is earned, and should NEVER, EVER be given as a right. FSD clearly have a slight problem with the former, a problem which they admit and plan to address. As to the latter, well their response to the former will assist simmers in deciding whether to offer them respect. They do have a history of not showing enough respect to paying customers.>True everyone is from different lands and cultures and>attitudes, BUT kindness is common thread throughout all of>them. There's precious little of that in the demands of simmers for instant solutions for problems which are often covered in manuals, support from developers for issues which have nothing to do with that developers product. Perhaps this goes some way to explaining the reasons why FSD do not show enough respect to paying customers? Allcott
