FSD Navajo - Sim Performance Question?

Featured Replies

Hello,I am running FS9 on a fast computer (Dell 8200). All of my present addons - less one - perform quite well display wise. I am comparing addons such as my Meridian, Flite 1 421 - PMDG 737 - A320 PIC - etc. I only have bad display performance from my new FSD Navajo (stutters and awful texture load times. I fly all with registered FSUIPC (current) Ultimate Traffic, Reality XP 530 GPS and the new Weather Radar. I also run a weather addon like FSMETEO or AS2004. Even with all of this going, all of my other sims run smoothly except for the Navajo.Any thoughts on the issue? Thanks,Ron [email protected]

I suggest you ask (nicely) in the FSD technical support forum. Given the dramatic over-reaction of some of the team to any overt or implied criticism, real or just imagined, probably best to add a good sprinkling of `please` and `thank you` at times throughout the post, or you may find yousrelf branded a troublemaker. Prostrate yourself before them at their mercy and beg for help with the product you paid for and you might get an answer, or even help. And under no circumstances ever try to fix the thing yourself. Recent posts in this forum are indicating that to do so is to reveal yourself as some kind of pirate in their eyes. Still, they're good at refunds.Allcott

Thanks for the reminder. I guess I'm getting too old to remember the ONE time I asked FSD for help with an install issue and was told to read the manual again. I'm not really a gripper and I sort of enjoyed the FSD addons but I'm really not up for a confrontation. Thanks again

Have you tried running it with only the default gps? I don't have the reality-xp gps, and my performance with the Navajo is great.

There are some dxt3 textures in repaint hangar at FSD site. Maybe worth trying.Jos

The texture load problem is known for the Navajo. If you are talking about a 2 or 3 second wait this is normal on some systems.FSD are working on more friendly textures for those who find this too annoying. Quality will take a small hit however, but may very well be worth it.As far as stutters are concerned,(something I have been fighting since FS9 came out), I have not heard or seen anything that makes the Navajo any worse then other commercial aircrafts.Ron

Ron, I'll be waiting for that fix. It's the only aircraft I have that does that too and just I don't use it anymore. In fact, I've only flown it a few times but would like to more if it wasn't for the texture problem. I'll monitor their site...Btw, I'm not referring to the stutters but the texture loading.billg

Actually, we already have all of the FSD colors for the Navajo available in DXT3 format. If you go to our Repaint Hangar and select the FSD paint schemes you will find a link to them there. This format will perform better than the ultra-high res texturing delivered with the aircraft.;-)http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif

Allcott,While somewhat abrasive, I take your comments to heart. But you might want to also consider what standing in the other guy's shoes is like. But that notwithstanding, we realize that there is much room for improvement on our part, and we are taking steps to implement that. I think is very illuminating, and brings up some good points. From the point of view standing on both sides of the counter.Keep the blue on top![link:www.fsd-international.com]http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif

I always ask nicely, say please and thank you....maybe that

Janey, what a grand idea . . . I think, somewhere in our backgrounds, we, as humans were taught that, however isn't it a shame that some tend to forget it, when in truth, THEY would not tolerate someone being rude to them.Oh well, life goes on. People will be people, good, bad and indifferent. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all just play nice together? Best to all,Clayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"

I am pleased to see you accept that fact, as there are some in your team and elsewhere who suffer from insufferable self-belief that they understand something, even when they don't, or that they have exlpained something clearly, when they haven't. Recent events testify. What I also said, in summary, is that if it's that much trouble, litigate don't pout. Don't perpetuate the problem rather than a provide at least part of the solution. As this thread again demonstrates, whatever the rights and wrongs of a given situation it is YOU the developer who ends up with a reputation exposed to withering on the vine in the harsh glare of an over-bright sun. And yes equally, those comments can apply to sim users, except they suffer in a different way - from the inherent and drastically over-used assumption that they are criminals for example. In many countries such behaviour would lay the perpetrator open to a libel action. And there isn't a single developer in this industry that could withstand that.It sure is good to see that FSD are taking remedial action. I am sure there are many simmers too frightened to deal with your company in its present state, no matter how marvellous the products are. And those who would not wish to have been refunded, but simply given the appropriate answer or an opportunity to explain... Good luck Allcott

Hello,Thank you all for the help.I am of little help technically here so I'll just relate my observation. I downloaded three paint jobs from the FSD site. I don't know if they are hi res or not (Red PAnther is one of them) I installed them and reran my sim with the different Navajo paint jobs.I don't have a clue why this would be true but the SIM PERFORMANCE is actually quite good with all of the downloads EXCEPT the original one that comes with the addon. Not only the exterior texture refresh time but the stutters are way down when I run the other paint selections. So, for now, I'll go back to flying this cool sim.By the way - all observations are with the Reality GPS, Weather Radar and Weather addons running. Thanks again,Ron Sagel
