November 28, 201114 yr Commercial Member Can any of you commercial guys tell us what simulator software is used by airlines for their simulators?I'm sure it varies from airline to airline, and that some may have their own proprietary software, but I recently watched a Level-D simulator on You Tube, and the graphics for the airport and surrounding area sure did look like bare bones FS9. I've also been told that some use a commercial version of X-Plane (Level 5?).Anyway, if anyone knows for sure, I'd appreciate them sharing.Hope everyone is well and enjoying the NGX. November 29, 201114 yr Hi Dave.CAE are one of the biggest level-D providers and their software is known as Tropos. This is the datasheet for it.I have not heard of Xplane being used but FSX does get used for outside visuals on FTD's but these devices are not certified.FSX through 3 Hi-Res projectors can look amazing. Sol7 software is used for edge blending where the 3 projector images meet.Looks even better on a curved screen.Fred.( a few pics of the last FTD I built can be seen here )http://forum.avsim.net/topic/354245-starting-cockpit-build-for-737ngx/page__st__25 Frederic Steiner.
