How to make the most of a touchscreen.

JasonHarris, how many (and why type) of video cards are you using in your cockpit? Just curious. I have 2 Nvidia 8800 GTX cards but only have 1 monitor.

Hi Rhyd, I have seen that video around. People seem to go for portrait in eyefinity when they want the vertical fov as much as the horizontal. I have solved that by just going for huge monitors but keeping it in landscape. Bezels are not much of an issue because the main monitor is so wide they are really out of the way.b when I fly a10 the monitor bezel lines up with the cockpit frame so they really do disappear. Once I got Helios I lost interest in doing the iPad thing. The iPad is nice but when you have a huge touchscreen with all that real estate it seemed like a much better alternative for myself. I could have made a few bucks on the iPad app but if it's not primarily for me I loose interest. I have a friend that flew 737s and he was keen for me to integrate with Pmdx but as you know it doesn't have an sdk yet. Skystream, I run a single ati 6970. The three large monitors run as eyefinity with a resolution of 5930x1080 and the other is an extended display ato 1920x1080. It's a pretty powerful card and while I don't know exactly what fps I will get in xplane, probably 30+ I get that easily in my other sims.

Wow...all those displays with eyefinity and still have the FPS to boot? I knew ATI had otdone nVidia in the multi-display market with allowing 6 displays at one time via multiple cards, but 4 displays from ONE card nVidia cards can only dream about. Just to run nVidia surrond, you need 2 cards in SLI using 2DVI on main card with 1 DVI on second card and 4th is dead. If you want another display, you'd have to have a 3rd card.I'm glad I'm getting 2 6950s for my gaming/pit rig. The bandwidth plus memory availability should give me some headroom for a while. Then getting my 3 projectors for my 160* 270"x54" outside view....I'm drooling at the prospect. It's been on the drawing board long enough.
