December 2, 201114 yr I looked around but couldn't find any of the dozen or so posts I planned to post this on so had to start this new topic.I still haven't had time to really get behind the NGX or any simming for that matter, and won't for at least another month. I've been asked lots of paint questions since the NGX release and some things just didn't make sense so had to buy. I would have earlier but being out of work means I need to at least attempt to be responsible (so much for that). I've had it fired up several times in the last two week but honestly just to test paint questions/issues (yes, when I test paints I have one thing on my mind and am outside ASAP). Anywho, just thought I'd leave my applause post and job very well done comments now since I missed opening week.I just now, tonight, for the first time in that last 1 or 2 weeks (since I bought it) got a chance to at least look around the VC. Wow,,, The detail is incredible and it can't at all be seen with the normal views. Track IR and EZCA really help zone in.The minute details really don't stand out otherwise, at least not the real details. I've loaded it up just to test liveries and a very quick quick glance at the vc, sure, but I never flipped a switch or turned a pot until today. The different sounds for the different stems on the potentiometer were the 1st thing to bring a grin to my face. Then I was really impressed with the realistic backlighting look. Not just in the messages (which are great) but the hue on the main panel displays. I wouldn't know what a real "Cockpit display" would look like with high contrast, but I am a computer tech of 20+ years and know they nailed it (a monitor is a monitor, boeings are still just monitors). I played around also in the FMC and was in awe at some of the new features and again, all of it that makes it up just makes it perfect. Color, button look, glare, and very much the font. You actually forget you're in a sim within a sim and would think I had the FMC right in front of my face. It was nice to get back to a Boeing for change, since it's been a while (J41 + MD11 baby). So very cool. Now I really want the 744 revisited more than ever.I also liked the sounds and surprisingly, even enjoyed the annoying trim sound that I thought I would be muting right off the bat. I only heard this in videos and it drives me nuts in them, seriously grinding teeth crazy!, but with all the other ambiance, it really fits and I found myself actually wanting to hear it. The flap sounds and other noises are fantastic. The digital LED's on the various instruments I think is when I really started to show teeth and my grin became a genuine smile. Not just the right amount of dust in the corners, or the correct off look, but the LED color, brightness, contrast, hue, and even timing as I thumbed the pot. I did get her airborne, but just before I shut it off. Enough to notice some things I haven't seen simulated on the PFD and ND since my Project Magenta days. I was moving around in EZCA for about an hour and finally had to pull out before, well just before. I have to stay off it though until I get my other projects done, since one is a large After Effect project for my family and even 10+hrs a day from now until Christmas might not be enough. "Must resist temptation". I'm sure I'll have more to say after the holidays when I can actually dig into the systems and the teeth showing, and grin statements I'm sure will be replaced with jaw dropping type descriptors ;)Oh, also I did check out the HUD. The depth of field is insane! I grew up a military simmer and really miss the hud. I really had to pull the plug there or I'd be trapped with no way out. After I shut it down I realized I never checked out the new terrain feature. Oh well, just another thing to look forward to another time. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
