December 2, 201114 yr How do I set the heading in the default Beaver.I thought by hitting the headind button it would hold the present heading but it doesn'tThanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
December 2, 201114 yr Author Do you mean that I hit the AP hdg button before I turn on the AP?If I hit the heading button when AP is on the plane heads off to a different course and I have to turn heading knob to compensate back to the course I am on.I set the heading in AP with keyboard presses thru FSUIPC instead of mousing the heading knob(which the Beaver doesn't have.At least I can't find )it.Hope I am explaining myself clearly enough. Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
December 2, 201114 yr rpowers,I can't find a HDG bug on the DG on any panel either... so this is why you cannot do the "set the desired heading". What I just did was to substitute the C172 DG in the 2D Main & IFR Panel (it has a HDG bug).To do this, go to your Beaver Panel Folder... the path looks something like this:Microsoft Flight Simulator XSimObjectsAirplanesDeHavilland_Beaver_DHC2panel1) Find the panel.cfg2) MAKE A BACKUP of this file... open with MS Notepad... save as: panel.cfg.bak (or whatever you wish to name it... now close it and use only for future reference)3) Open panel.cfg and find the section labeled: [Window00] (it's the Main 2D panel)4) Look for the line:gauge07=DeHavilland_Beaver_DHC2!dg, 329,6405) Place two forward slashes at the start of the line. This "rems" (remarks) it out. Using the word "rem" will also make you sound like a cool programmer ("Ok, I got that line rem'd out.") Looks like this.//gauge07=DeHavilland_Beaver_DHC2!dg, 329,640Rem'ing it out (instead of deleting it) lets you see the change later should you wish to "go back".right underneath your rem'd gauge07 line, copy and paste the below:gauge07=Cessna!Heading_Indicator, 332,637,118,1166) Do the same in the [Window03] section (IFR Panel)... two forward slashes on the original gauge and "new" C172 DG pasted in.//gauge07=DeHavilland_Beaver_DHC2!dg, 329,415gauge07=Cessna!Heading_Indicator, 334,412,115,1157) Save it and go have fun. When you use either 2D panel, the lower right knob is your HDG bug.Edit: fwiw I used FS Panel Studio to make this quick swap.
December 3, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the info.I will give it a go.I never use the 2D panel so I assume I can just set it in 2D and go to the VC?THanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
December 3, 201114 yr Yes exactly... i tried once replacing the DG in the VC but the hdg bug knob didn't show up... figured this would still be a quick way to get you "going".welcome btw-RobEdit: note that the two gauge line positionings are slightly different... i.e. if you paste the first line for the [Window00] section into the [Window03] section, the gauge will be slightly mis-positioned in the IFR panel.
December 3, 201114 yr Author Did it.Worked great. Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
