December 2, 201114 yr WoW. I am having fun again flying. This neat, free utility does what trackIr does, but does not require all that silly head gear. It works off the webcamera, has very little impact on frame rates and is extremely accurate and reliable. Now I can have virtual camera without all that head gear making me look silly when my wife walks in on me. Version 1.6 came out a few days ago, and it provides easy controls and easy connection to either fs9 or fsx. Obviously, you cannot fly in a dark room, since a web camera needs some light to operate properly.I am able to fly with just a desk lamp in my dark basement room.Ideal Flight is another utility that I ran into a few months ago that totally transformed the way I fly. I got the demo after reading about in the forum here. This utility creates a flight plan, monitors my flying and, and with a click of a button, always takes me to a different airport. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. It does much more: it creates a flight briefieng that lists all the necessary airport information , especially radio and nav frequencies, including arrival and departing runways and the ils frequencies. For IFR, it even provides minimum altitudes for approaching the airport, a feature that's very useful when one does not have to all the approach charts. It even creates its own weather. You can choose the duration of a flight, and IF will always create a flight plan based on that flight duration you set. What's great about it is the fact that it automates many of the individual tasks that we perform before flying: career planning, random flying, failures, weather, and much, much more. The list is too long. I suggest you get the demo and see for yourself. It's been a while since I've been as charged up as I am now that I am flying with these two utilities. Ideal Flight is not freeware , but after trying the demo, it's one the best purchase I made this year.I hope AVSIM does a review of these two utilities, for they definitely bring a new and exciting dimension to flying our sim.tc
