Need help with water textures

Featured Replies

signaturelogo.jpgHey folks,Lately, there have been some outstanding texture fixes for the default CoF water. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to make use of them and I'm not entirely sure why. On my display screen, I move the water effects slider to the far right (to the High setting) but it won't remain that way, which I'm sure, is the whole problem.I have a Compac Presario 2100 laptop with an AMD 2200 processor. My video card is an ATI Radeon IGP 320M.0. I tried installing the latest driver (although the computer is only a year old) but wasn't able to compet the installation because of some error message. Is there a tweak I can do in the CoF cfg file to remove this limitation? Thanks for any help you can give me.[/size]sigpic.jpghttp://dogcreek.allwebco.com

Just above the water texture setting is one for terrain and water. I don't remember its exact designation. Nevertheless, set it to the half way point. Then set the water detail texture to full right. That should take care of it.Sherm

Hi,All cards that`s support DirectX7 like gforce2, gforce4MX and some Radeon will not able to handle the bump mapping, (watter effect slider to right). Gforce4 non mx and above works perfectly, You 3d cards must be DirectX 8 compliant and above.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

I found this list to be very helpful to determine wich graphics card uses wich DirectX version. Its good to read up on when buying a new card, becos as I found out even some never cards arent all DX9 compliant but only 8.1http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031229/index.html.

Hi,I'm not sure about your graphics chip, as I'm not too familiar with the naming conventions for ATI's mobile chips. In any case, usually you won't be able to install the reference drivers from ATI but need to get the ones from compaq. Alternatively, you could try the omegadrivers (www.omegacorner.com), but again, I'm not sure if they work with your card.-Daniel
