Maule M7-260 WoW!

Featured Replies

Earlier I noticed the review of this aircraft on the Avsim front page (never knew it existed until today). The review made it look to good to be true for a freeware aircraft. Downloaded and installed the package and updates and upon testing it out my jaw dropped! What an amazing bit of work that is equal to the best pay ware GA aircraft IMO.Did I miss a line of posts about this when it was released? I don

Yeah that Maule has been my favorite FREEWARE aircraft since it was released.I'm glad Bear had a chance to review it, as it is a GREAT FREEWARE GA plane.Once again the bar is raised and more evidence is provided that FREEWARE in this hobby is Thriving. Here is the Link to the Library at FSNordic who hosts the files:http://files.fsnordic.net/Flight_Simulator...neral_Aviation/Thanks to M.Maliniemi, K.Virtanen, I.Grant, R.Horelli, A.Swindle, S.Grant, & T.Foosnes for a Fantatstic Aircraft.Regards,Joehttp://aboutpolitics.net/images/bannerav.gif.About Politics.net - FORUMShttp://pub162.ezboard.com/baboutpolitics.Contribute to the Richard Harvey Scholarship Fund.http://www.avsim.com/pages/scholarship.shtml

Funny how we take such things for granted.I have been flying the Maule for months. It is truly a great work of art. Feel a bit of remorse for not saying so early on.You know, this is why Freeware is having such a bad time. It is because of the likes of me. Yeah, sometimes I make a scenery and upload it. --- but no where of this excellance. Give me a minute or two. I want to vote for this plane.Hang on.Frenchy -- out.

Is it necessary to download and install the version 1.1 update? The reason that I ask is that I noticed that the 60mb version 1 download file contains newer .air files than the version 1.1 update file. Thanks,Robert

I agree with you, the Maule is a real nice package. The Cessna 195 is also another really good addon, as well as the Huntington Provost from Ricks Paintshop. The download is quite large, but well worth it.http://www.btinternet.com/~rick.piper/

The Maule really is a great package. On a side note though, does anyone else find that something is up with the VC? If I pan around the VC I find that the back half of the pan (as I'm looking towards the rear of the VC) my framerates get totally messed up (like 1 or 2 fps) and I get long pauses and stutters and usually the planes exterior textures start to dissappear soon thereafter.

I agree this is an awesome aircraft. I just tried it out, on a flight from Skwentna, AK, to Rainy Pass, AK, in marginal flying conditions. (Boy do I love the terrain view in the GPS!) I saw the runway only at the last minute -- almost flew by it in the poor visibility -- and this aircraft had all the right stuff to get down to that little 60 x 900 foot airstrip. But I had a hard time trimming the aircraft during flight. It was almost completely unresponsive to trim inputs. I know this, because I add a digital trim gauge to all my aircraft. (I've yet to fly an aircraft in which the panel gives adequate visual cueing of the trim state.)Is this natural for this aircraft, or is this a quirk with the flight model? I had some problems keeping the wings level, too. The aircraft seemed to want to bank to the left continually, if but all imperceptably, to the right. I tried controlling this with rudder trim to no avail.I think this is a keeper, and I know I need to spend some more time in it, but it required constant flying. I don't expect the small GA aircraft I fly to fly hands off indefinitely. But I should be able to trim it out and have it fly itself for a little while before I have to make some corrective adjustments. I'm not there yet with this aircraft.-Basil

.....I had some problems keeping the wings level, too. The aircraft seemed to want to bank to the left continually, if but all imperceptably, to the right. I tried controlling this with rudder trim to no avail......Just go into the aircraft.cfg file and add a co-pilot of similar weight and the left turn tendency is solved.-------------------Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what

Now why didn't I think of that! (I've been flying other aircraft loaded out for so long that I forgot.)

I have had zero issues using the VC. I dont often use the VC on most other aircraft, but with me few hours messing with the Maule I have used it 90% of the time. Great frame rates and all textures in place. The air file is great as well.

Ah, it was the in-game anti-aliasing that was messing things up. Switched that off and I'm back to fairly consistant mid twenty framerates in the VC again :)
