Urgent ASE 2012 question

Featured Replies

I am looking to take advantage of this weekends ASE 2012 "special discount" release, but.... The problem I have had with ASE and its prior versions is the stuttering that happens as the weather is loading-- usually as I start rolling for a takeoff or on finals. Does ASE 2012 have any improvement in how it loads the weather? Is it smoother (or more gradual)?Sitting on the fence because I am happy with all my other graphics programs and only would buy it if the performance was improved.Thanks!!Dig-

If you use AS2012 DWC...no stuttering. The stuttering associated with Standard mode hasn't been totally eliminated, but it's much better than in ASE in my experience. Other beta testers noted the same....but YMMV of course.

You and I must have the same preflight prep procedure, as I've had those issues too in the past and my updates would happen right when you really don't want them to happen during takeoff ;-)Having said that, DWC in AS2012 completely solved that for me, it's super smooth! I've also used other modes and whatever Damian changed in the code, they all are so much smoother now. (disclaimer - I was on the beta team). Cheers,Pete

Pete, I think so! I load up ASE, then Shade, then typically fly the NGX. Once FSX loads to the gate, I wait for the NGX to do its thing, then UT2 traffic populates along with the weather. I try to wait a few minutes to let things load up and stabilize, but no matter what, as soon as I start taking off more weather starts to load up causing stutters. I think you and Wayne have both posted enough to sway me! :) Thanks!!
