February 12, 200422 yr After reading Bears review of the POSKY 757 with Lonny Payne panel, I decided to download the files quoted. The a/c and a/c VC files were about 7 meg each , the FS2002 panel was 14 meg and the FS2004 update was 1.5 meg.All worked well with the installation of the POSKY 757 -- I finished up with a nice a/c with a nice VC -- but the 2d panel is a simple one from the default 777 (I think) . OK - so now I try to install the Lonny Payne panel into this a/c. Bear actually ommited to say that the original Fs2002 panel is required but I woke up to this -- installed it and the FS2004 update. But alack and alas, I get an a/c with a strange VC -- some of the gauges have a white background and others are just weird. Has anybody managed to tie these things together? Thanks Barry
February 12, 200422 yr Never mind!! -- I have found the fix to my problem. If you have the same problem as I had , you have to make an alteration to the panel.cfg file as supplied by Lonny.[Vcockpit01]Background_color=8,8,8 For all the Vcockpit sections 1 to 5 , change the line Background_color=0,0,0 toBackground_color=8,8,8Works for me!! :)Barry
February 12, 200422 yr I'll agree on the panel from Chris Jeanne beeing really nice. Also there's a really cool nightlight panel-expansion out for it as well in the avsim library.I could never really get the Lonny Payne panel to work proper, it seemed like 1 out of 2 flights I loaded up, i lost ability to control the flaps, wouldnt budge at all :(
February 12, 200422 yr I use Ken Mitchell's panel. I like it the best. There's no shortage in this particular category.
February 12, 200422 yr Did you have the Hydraulics pressurized? I have not had a single person report that the flaps don't work. If you do not have the HYD system pressurized or if you hav ethe alternate flaps selected, the flaps will not work with the handle.Lonny
February 12, 200422 yr Lonny, I went back and checked your zipfile with the panel, and it occured to me that I completely forgot to paste in the aircraft.cfg file into the POSKY one that you supplied. Im sure thats the problem. :) Smack me with a bat will ya :DIt couldnt have been the alternate flaps settings though, because the voice came on speaking out loud what flap settings I was on.By the way, with the new FDE out by POSKY, what part should be copied into the aircraft.cfg? The hydraulics and electrical parts? Thanks alot for taking time to help out with it, Lonny :)
February 13, 200422 yr Chris Jeannes panel is better than Lonnys simply because its less tempramental. Suggest you try that one as well as the LP panel. ejj AND
February 16, 200422 yr That is your opinion. Nothing against his panel, but it is rather simple compared to mine. My goal is to make a panel that is as close as you can get to the real thing and I believe that the first version of my panel does a pretty darn good job. 99% of the problems people have are self induced because of simple errors on their part or they simply don't read the documentation. One thing I take pride in is that I answer every e-mail that I receive about the panel and I do all I can to make sure that everybody is happy and they get the panel working. I know it is not perfect and for a very first attempt at programming gauges, I don't think I did that bad. I do have an all new panel in the works after the 80 is out the door. I have learned many new things over the last year or so that will fix the little quirks that the panel has.Lonny
February 16, 200422 yr Glad its all working for you know and have fun! There is a file in the DOCS folder called "Aircraft Configuration". As long as you make those changes, everything should work jsut fine.Lonny
