December 20, 201114 yr Hi,I love the NGX, but the NGX doesn't do KFJK-VIDP, so I'm still flying the 747X, but the one thing that is stopping me from doing a lot of flights on flightaware.com is the latitude and longitude coordinates on a flightplan. I tried writing the whole thing out, but wouldn't imput. Could someone explain?
December 20, 201114 yr Short Form (only degrees, no minutes):NXXEYYY, or SXXWYYY where XX is degrees latitude and YYY is degrees longitude.Long Form:NXXXXEYYYYY.Y, or SXXXXWYYYYY.Y where XXXX is XX degrees XX.X minutes latitude and YYY is degrees and YY.Y minutes longitude, so N78º 38.8' E120º 34.7' becomes N7838.8E12034.7P. 12-30 of the PMDG B-747-400 Aircraft Operations Manua (Rev. 26-JUL-05) applies.Cheers,- jahman
December 20, 201114 yr I have to say, that is flat out impressive that you know that stuff!! nice! Ciao!
December 20, 201114 yr Thanks!Took me quite a while to understand how to work the FMC first time around... And I'm still awed you can fly such a large aircraft and with such precision just by typing stuff into an ATM-style CDU. The folks who designed the 744's avionics were way ahead of the curve.Cheers,- jahman.
