ASUS Overclocking Failed

Well I thought it was stable I was wrong..because when I restarted the computer I received a "Overclocking Failed" Message from ASUS. Im still trying to figure out out to get a stable overclock, what to change and what to leave the same. Besides changing the clock speed and vcore (which I cant figure out a good level). Is there a set parameter to follow?

Try a clear CMOS before OC'ing.ALWAYS test your system on stock settings checking temperatures and stability before OC'ing

ya that site helped. I think the Highest Ill go is 4.3ghz @ 1.24v. any higher and Im pushing 60C under 100% load

60ºC is nothing if that 100% is Prime95 or similar. Up to 80ºC is fine

I found that ASUS does not do a very good job of automatically overclocking your system if you push any of those buttons in the BIOS. Even the 'Normal' button screwed things up for me. Your best bet is to look up at the top of this forum and look at the post started by SpiritFlyer regarding examples of BIOS Settings. I used the settings posted by SpiritFlyer and they work great on my system. Of course he and I have similar systems as I 'stoled' his system specs to buy my system. However, he overclocked to 5GHz and I kept my settings conservative and only overclocked to 4.4GHz. I do understand he has since lowered his overclock but that's simply done by changing 5.0 to 4.4 or whatever. He and I use the XMP profile. I found XMP settings work best at least with the RAM I have installed. There are several other examples of BIOS settings that you too can 'steal from'.... Best regards,Jim

well I certantly can go higher than 4.3ghz..its just a matter of temperature. What is a set temp that I should not exceed in any of the cores while running prime95? I will use that as a guide as far as overclocking. 60C is at 100% @ 4.5 (1.28v) should I go higher?

I used to get that sometimes on my buggy GB board. If the clock is correct and the temps are fine just ignore it.
