December 27, 201114 yr Hi Everyone, this has happened on a few flights now, normally it never occurred: -- no failures presentSo heres my deal: im flying from KDEN to KLGA on a 900I set everything up properly in my FMC...I switch nothing on in terms of autopilot or auto throttle on the ground. Then i take off and this is what i always did and what im doing now:1 - F/D to on2 - Autothrottle to ON3 - Arm VNAV4 - Arm LNAV5 - CMD autopilot A ---- And it doesnt turn on!!!its so annoying, even if i wanted to fly with a regular heading and regulate the altitude myself. autopilot doesnt engage. and neither does B. i dont know why. I can push the button a million times and sometimes it like will flash a split second of green and go away as soon as i depress the button. is it a glitch?I can provide more info if you ask for something specific. December 27, 201114 yr Hey Max,I'm not an expert but just to get the thought out there, is there any chance your joystick sensitivity is set a tad high, and while your trying to engage your autopilot you might indirectly be making an input to the yoke, making the autopilot think that you are using manual control. Also, on your PFD, are there any yellow words that illuminate? I can't quite remember the exact series of letters that illuminate but it begins with a "C". Rob Rob Jaworski
December 27, 201114 yr Author Hey Rob,That would actually explain a lot. That is a really really good idea, I will have to try that out. I will say for my flight right now, it ended up engaging, but perhaps that is because i left the yoke steady for a second. Normally i try to set it as im pulling back and perhaps you are correct.I will try that, thanks a lot for that!Happy Holidays Max PMDG 747X & 737NGX Pilot
December 27, 201114 yr Okay awesome! Yeah i know that i had the same problem a while back, and each time now after I takeoff, i usually ease up and let go of the yoke for a split second so i can engage the autopilot without any problems. Hope the problem is fixed, and Happy Holidays to you as well. Rob Rob Jaworski
December 28, 201114 yr Max,It's normal to turn the FD on and ARM autothrottle before takeoff. Selecting TOGA engages autothrottle for takeoff. Doing this will put you in better shape to engage autopilot smoothly when airborne.Kevin Hall
December 28, 201114 yr Author this is true, i tend to forget that.thanks kevinMax Max PMDG 747X & 737NGX Pilot
