December 28, 201114 yr I have a new computer (64bit Win 7 Pro) that I am attempting to install RC on. After running setup from the CD, when I go to the step 1 of the installation instructions,'Start RCV4.exe', I get the following error message: 'Component 'MSINET.OCX' or one of it's dependencies not correctly requested, a file is missing or invalid'. I ran a forum search on the MSINET.OCX error message with no results. Assistance would be appreciated.I am a long time RC user and fan.
December 28, 201114 yr http://forum.avsim.net/topic/265834-713-and-unregistered-dlls/ has information about how to overcome this both for a missing component and how to register it in your Win version. Many of these files were left out that were in earlier versions of Win. One of the replies there has a source for this file.In addition be sure you run RC by right clicking on the .exe and choosing Run as Admin, a program level setting as opposed to a user level setting. Once RC is set up create a shortcut to it and set that shortcut's properties to run as admin. When installing and registering an .ocx or .dll file be sure you are logged in as an administrator.Once your RC install is complete and you have registered it be sure FSUIPC from both links and makerwys from the interim link is updated. Then start RC and rebuild the scenery database again. You state that you are a long time user. You need to insure that your CD installed version 4.3.3845. If not send an e-mail to [email protected] subject RC and user update with your original e-mail address and purchase information requesting an update download link and if necessary an update for your e-mail address (include your original one in the e-mail) so the your new key will be automatically generated. Please don't repeat your post every few minutes. It will be seen. This is a busy season for those concerned in consideration of new users having just acquired this. This forum is monitored daily by someone.
January 1, 201214 yr Author Thanks for your quick response!I apologize for the multiple forum entries, that was not intentional, I was having log in problems???, but how the multiple entries happened I don't know.My problem is now I can get to the log in screen. I did get the registration number. I copy and enter it into the box, press the button, and nothing happens, the screen either just fades away, or I get a not responding message in the title bar. I am right clicking RC and opening it as an administrator when i run it. I reloaded FSUIPC and ran that fix registry program. Not sure where to go now.
January 2, 201214 yr In pasting that registration key into the box be sure no trailing characters follow the last character. The cursor should lay without a space after that character. Can you alt-tab to see if there are any error popups underneath the RC screen? Is this a recent CD with build 3843 or build 3845?In your RC4 folder make sure keyboard.dat and rcv3.dat are not read-only.
January 7, 201214 yr Author Still unable to register, same problem, enter the registration number, and the screen either fades or goes no response in the title bar. I have no leading or trailing edges in the key box, there is a - sign infront of the product key, and I did correct the rrv3.dat file to not read only, but no help. I see no error messages. How did the later post 'can't get by the registration screen' solve his problem?
January 8, 201214 yr keyboard.dat must also not be read only as that is where your registration is stored. Some files in the rcv4data folder are also updated with a scenery rebuild so that folder and files in it must be read/write-create/delete/modify.The problem with the CD installer is it can create everything as read only. For this instance make sure everything from the rcv4 folder down has no restrictions in case you want access to normally files not normally modified outside of RC.Although wouwout was running win 7-64 on a Mac using dual-boot, not an emulator, he might have an answer for you. Send him a PM.
